Basically I am just thinking of buying Galatica some time but I first want to gather some opinions and find out what the gameplay is like from those who have played it a bit. Also are there any games it is fairly similar to for gameplay as well.

If my gamegroup can summon six player, no other game lands on the table than this one. It is pure fun and has a high replayability. A game thats is a bit similar to BSG is "Shadows over Camelot".
