New Commander Idea

By OutboundFlight, in Star Wars: Armada

An Imperial commander that allows small base ships with 1 command dial to "hide" behind large base ships. The effect would be similar to how dust fields work.

Could be fun, and would make raiders more viable.

Which Imperial would be the best fit themewise?

"While a friendly small base ship is defending, if LoS to the defending hull zone is traced through a friendly large base ship, it cannot be the target of an attack."

He ran the sector that controlled the KDYs, an argument could be made that he'd try to shelter smaller ships made there? lol IDK. Sounds cool to me I like the idea.

Something to help the small-based ships of the Empire out a bit would be kind of nice, so so many of their Admirals mesh with ISDs already.

That said, it would be really obnoxious trying to kill comms-net/repair team and other sorts of support flotilla that are bolstering an ISD or SSD. Though, I suppose if the flotilla is screened off by a large ship, it's already not a great attack opportunity against it anyways...

Either way, I like the creativity here and it's a neat effect, at least!

There is a custom commander league coming up

Maybe change the wording of what Sanguis said to

"When a friendly small base, non-flotilla ship is defending, if LoS to the defending hull zone is traced through a friendly large base ship, it cannot be the target of an attack."

Sneak-a-Demo!

I'd love to see the rebels get a reverse-motti. Say 3 points small, 2 medium and 1 large. Or maybe a rebel commander that boosts shields for all ships, as us rebels live and die by our shields.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha so you want a 7 hull Landmonition???

or 8 hull hammerhead with ER and boarding engineers? :evil laugh:

I sorta want Yularen as an admiral, who does what he does now, but for the entire fleet. Also, Count Dooku, Grevious, Tretch... ect.

But more importantly, I want ****, cheap, generic admirals. Admirals who do really meh abilities, but are cheap.

New Ackbar

-At the start of the command phase restore one shield facing of your choice on every ship in your fleet to it’s starting value. Then throw Ackbar out of a window.

Rebel Commander whose ability lets you destroy wounded squadrons to deal direct hull damage to nearby ships equal to the remaining hull of the squadron...

I love this for increasing the potential to destroy an SSD by smashing an A-Wing into it.

My thoughts were "Take a ton of YT-1300s, use Escort, then activate the ability near the SSD."

Yeah, SSD Command Prototype plus Demo and as many Raiders as you can get.

Outer Rim Patrol Officer

I'd like an Imperial version of Raddus but is limited to a small ship and up to two squadrons. I think that would be pretty cool. Could be an admiral or they could fit in the officer slot as a unique.

How about giving rebels a commander that helps out squadrons like Sloane does for Imperials.

I would support the idea of a reverse-motti. Say -1 hull point small, -2 medium, -3 large.

Well considering that Rebels have more small ships I would of thought that it would of been a better thing for them. Plus your getting new commanders in the SSD how about some love for the Rebels.

that's what I'd really want. I'm not sure what it would look like but i do want a "real" squadron commander(preferably wedge) because I'm tired of people lying to me saying reikeen is the rebel equiv.

He is actually. Sloane helps ships.

All Generic:

Sector Admiral, 15 points. May not equip ships with Fleet Command Upgrades. Choose a fleet command card to become this admiral's ability. At the start of the ship phase spend a matching token to activate ability. (CR90 swarm with shields to maximum?)

Staff Admiral, 10 points. May not command ships with unique upgrades. Exhaust to give a single ship command tokens up to that ship's command limit.

Commodore, 8 points. May not command ships with unique upgrades. Exhaust to reroll all attack dice.

Commander, 6 points. Unique upgrades, unique squadrons and fleet commands may not be in your fleet. All non-Heavy squadrons gain a scatter token.

Junior Officer, 4 points. Unique upgrades, unique squadrons and fleet commands may not be in your fleet. Exhaust and discard a defence token from any ship to cancel all attack dice.

Officer Candidate, 2 points. Unique upgrades, unique squadrons and fleet commands may not be in your fleet. You know things are bad when your "Admiral" only gets flavour text.

Gonk Droid, -10 points. Unique upgrades, unique squadrons and fleet commands may not be equipped. Opponent gains a victory token worth 10 points. At the start of the ship phase the ship Gonk Droid is on restores all shields to a single hull zone. (available in the April store tournament pack?)

My wording and points might be off on some of these but they might give some unique gaming experiences.
