Any fun casual formats?

By Roller of blanks, in X-Wing

My friend and I have plans to play x-wing today, but my friend isn't too keen on playing the standard 100:6 game. Are there any fun little formats for low-skill casual players, like some sort of small base only furball with tons of asteroids, or a kind of objective based game?

Please and thank you!

You should check out Mission Control if you're not familiar with it.

People create and upload custom casual formats to the FFG website. Things from a traitorous spy ship in your list to asteroid runs.

You could pick a bit you find inspirational:

- Heroes of the Arturi Cluster

- Epic games

- Mission Control

- I don’t know if it ever got posted anywhere, but Shuttle Tyderium podcast made a campaign Greyskull Base that sounded pretty neat

My casual game:

First, a classical 100:6

The winner keep the same squad for the next game. The looser can change ( and get the chance to adapt against the winner s archetype).

For two players casually playing often, it is very cool and allow to change the squad a lot.

Mario Kart!!

At my FLGS we like mixing in a king of the Hill game every now and then. It’s a lot of fun and you get to see some ships shine that usually aren’t very good (Quadjumper anyone?).

Here’s a link to the rules we use.

Chewbacca — YT-1300 42
Push the Limit 3
Concussion Missiles 4
Han Solo 2
Luke Skywalker 7
Burnout SLAM 1
Smuggling Compartment 0
Advanced SLAM 2
Millennium Falcon 1
Ship Total: 62

VERSUS

"Youngster" — TIE Fighter 15
Debris Gambit 2
Ship Total: 17

Black Squadron Pilot x3 14
Veteran Instincts 1
Ship Total: 15 x3
Squad Total: 62

... or some such list. Have Fun!!

Multiplayer or 1v1.

32points limit per ship list. When you die, respawn at the point of the map you sit closest to.

If 1v1, recommend take two or three "lists".

By point, I assume you mean corner of the mat?

How you you win/end??

On the Shuttle Tydirium, we have a ton of alt formats compiled into our google drive folder: ST holodrive

That has the Grayskull narrative campaign, tron-wing, mario kart stuff, etc.

You kill someone you gain a point. Whoever has the most points.

Play as long as you like, stop whenever you want. Change ship lists. Bring in more people, drop people very flexible.

And yes, do some angular maths to figure it out. Its a casual format.

Mario Kart and escalation furball are a couple of my favorite non-standard formats.

There are a ton of different things you can do.

Heroes of the Aturi Cluster is at the top. It's free. It's professionally done. It's cooperative. It's some of the best X-wing you will ever play.

There is also Mario Kart X-wing. Babaganoosh put a link with the rules that we have played a lot to fine tune it. It's very fun.

Tron Wing is where you leave your templates behind you like in Tron light cycles. We have rules for that in on our holo drive.

There are a ton of ways to just play it and have fun. Try 20 asteroids and debris fields. It's whacky and a lot of fun.

There are a lot of missions to try, as well.

We (Shuttle Tydirium) did a whole story driven campaign that we even did an audio drama to give a bunch of background for. It's called Assault on Greyskull base (and you can hear the audio drama on YouTube).

Here's a list of everything
