Pack it up!

By Koing907, in X-Wing

This was my last week to play 1.0. (I skipped because of a sinus headache) and now it's time to say goodbye to most of my 1.0 stuff.

I'm keeping my collection of acrylic range rulers, since they should work with 2.0 just fine, and packing away all the cardboard. I already have an X-Wing archive box for my extras. It's just going to get a bit bigger now. :)

Is there any cardboard I should keep out? I hear the conversion kits don't come with bomb tokens.

Keep bomb tokens out for sure.

Probably also Ship ID tokens and Target locks as I think you only get 6 sets in the Core and none in the conversion boxes (so probably not enough for now).

Also keep your shields unless what you're getting in new expansions + core is enough.

I'm not sure if there is anything else, maybe focus and evade too ... I'm just keeping my tokens out until I receive the new stuff to be sure :).

Ill be keeping the comically large official acryllic Kallus token, and use that for Kallus 2.0 hunted token.

Do we need to keep asteroids and debris? It looks like the core set only comes with 3 asteroids and 3 debris.

Keep asteroids and debris if you think you'll want more than 3 of each or want more variety in them ... I think I read that 1.0 versions of those are legal but I'm not sure of that.

Last day of 1st edition for me tomorrow, after which it will be packed away. As much as I love X-Wing, I won't be sad to see the back of 1st edition with the insane power creep we've seen over many waves now. I'll be keeping my asteroids, dice and bomb tokens along with my various acrylics but everything else is going into the shadowy depths of the garage.

Aren’t target locks numbered now so they match the ship id? you only use the red one in the new rules, right?

Theyre numbered to cut back on the number of tokens a bit.

Nothing really prevents you from using old tokens, i'll keep using my acrylic ones.

They will pry the GG and QQ lock tokens from my cold, dead hands.

Considering the propensity of lost limbs in Star Wars and lightsaber related injuries, this is a possibility..

I thought 1.0 shield tokens weren't technically legal in 2.0, since they don't have a 'disabled' side?

If you really want to keep your lettered target locks, perhaps creating lettered ship ids would solve the problem.

Planning to get the felt tips out for that technicality.

Played a 2 v 2 game of Epic last night and it was a nail biter from the get go. It was a Gozanti with 4 Interceptors (Fel was one of them), a Palp shuttle and two TIE Defenders vs Rey in the Falcon, a Corvette, with Luke, Poe, and Kullbee as X-wing escorts with an Imperial Raider used as an obstacle in the middle of the board. Kullbee was the first to go... my partner just didn't have a good build on her and after a TIE Interceptor got deployed and moved range 1 to her right, there was NO hope for her. The TIE Defenders bee lined for the Falcon and lit it UP but not before getting peppered from the Corvette and finished by a solid shot from Luke and a range 3 proton torpedo from Poe... The Gozanti launched the rest of it's TIE Interceptors in the next couple rounds, trying to circle around to the aft of the Corvette. Rey finished off one before getting deleted by the Gozanti after it RAMMED THROUGH THE RAIDER DEBRIS... a bold, but costly move.

The shuttle got decimated by the Corvette, Poe fell to the Gozanti and a TIE Interceptor while Luke was off regenerating his shields and nursing some hull damage. Luke came back to finish off the last two TIES and the game wrapped up with the Corvette with 7 hull damage on it's fore section and the Gozanti unable to regain energy thanks to two specific critical hits and my aft section's ion cannons ionizing the light cruiser.

Then I came home and spent 3 and a half hours packing up everything from 1.0 that won't be carried over to 2.0.

That's what I did, used a red sharpie to make them double sided.

I honestly don't see the difference between flipping a token and simply removing it from the ship card. Even with ships able to regenerate, there's literally no practical difference.

I'll continue using my acrylic shield tokens; I won them, they're being used.

I took an orange sharpie to the backs of my shield tokens to make them "red".

A red sharpie was too dark. There are not enough/any shield tokens in the kits.

Target locks.

I have the single letter on my ship base and place the same double letter TLs on my pilot card.

I hate the new system and black versus white doesn't work when we do a 3 faction scrum.

Stress tokens from 1.0 are used because I like the look and shape of them.

The rest will be archived unless I need to add more because there are not enough in the core and 3 kits I ordered.

I'm being choosy about which 2.0 ships to buy in the future so new tokens won't be as abundant.

Oh I completely agree, but they must have explicitly changed that rule for some reason?

The nice thing about acrylic shield tokens is that (at least the FFG ones) are two sided: the active side with the white etched details, and the disabled side that is just dark and blank.

What’s red and smells like blue paint?

I put it all in a box. We will see what happens in the future.

I have my bomb tokens and my acrylics left out for use. I fully intend to put my new core damage deck cards in the sleeves with my system open ones so the back is the alt art Boba back and the front is the new card faces for the crits.

No need for felt tips with these available:

You should be able to find something like these at your local office supply store. As for me? I switched to acrylics a long time ago and my shields will be good for 2.0.

I need to get some of these for my metal shield tokens.

You can use the Blue letters on your ship card as the ID token and the red letters on the ship you’re targeting, right?

I use the single letter TL on the ship and keep the corresponding double letter TLs on the card.

that way, if someone wants to know the pilot of a certain ship, trace back the letter on the TL even if the red one is being used.

I prefer the look of the old TL over the new one.
