Making T-47 Flyable

By player2801864, in Star Wars: Legion

I know the T-47 is a lot of fun to paint, not so much to fly. But if you were creating an upgrade, what would you create to make it more likely to use in your list?

Maybe a repair droid, or shield upgrade to improve durability.

An upgrade that gives it a free dodge or aim when given an order perhaps.

Other than that, revising its cost would be a good start, I really love this game, but I am a bit dissapointed in how rarely the big toys, heroes and villains hit the table.

I think a hover action would be good. Oh and revising points.

It's really not that bad of a unit. Pretty nice damage, can shoot over cover, good flanking unit.

However, there is so much access to impact weapons and so many units with surge-crit. It can get focused down pretty easy, compared to the at-st's 11 hull.

It's maybe 25p overcosted or should have 8 hull.

If ffg won't errata the card we are left with a few options. Accept that it's not the best unit to pick for tournaments, hope for a good pilot card coming in a future expansion or wait 1-2 years for an ace pack with a retrofit card.

Maybe a Wes Janson pilot upgrade that gives surge-hit to the vehicle. 10 point cost, go run your speeder as a glass cannon

The T-47 is one of those units that demonstrate the failure of the "fix-through-upgrade" system. Taking away one of it's three upgrade slots is rough and destroys any flexibility that the unit may have had if it was costed appropriately.

A pilot would be the worst, because it means we'd never see Wedge in a T-47, but also the most likely. Difficult to see a non-unit locked hardpoint coming out that would benefit the T-47, and comms are too general.

But honestly it should just be errata'd... or even better FFG should just say "ignore printed point costs for OP" and we should get an app like X-wing 2.0 with on-the-fly points adjustments.

I'll start with its not horrible. It's just not great. It doesn't need an upgrade fix, or an errata. We need an Admiral Ackbar commander. Give a cool bonus to air vehicles. Done.

The cost is probably it’s biggest issue. It’s very fragile, but it’s damage really is not very good either, for something that costs 175 points. It’s output is the same as the equally fast speeder bikes, and those are half the cost.

I think cover 2 would help. Right now the cover 1 is almost entirely redundant with armor, unless you are getting hit with a low-dice high-impact attack like saber throw.

I would love this for Legion

Drop 25 points and it will be fine.

cover two would be amazing but the other thing is stop giving it damage because hit terrain that less then 2 high

An "up-armor" hardpoint card that gives +3 HP and Cover 2.

Allow the tail mounted weapons to be fired as a free action. So you can shoot a unit with your main gun, fly past them, then shoot them again.

That's a great idea!

Speeders = immune to grenade effects, plus point reduction, plus more durable

Solo fixes the problem.

Solo and Chewbacca does so twice as well.

You're welcome.

Two turns of Speeder being totally immune to fire. Problem fixed.

Errata the 'Speeder' keyword so that it performs a number of compulsory moves equal to the Speeder number. Wouldnt effect bikes and it would have the added benefit of making it fly more realistically. The in game benefit would be that it would have an insanely large threat area commensurate with its cost

Oh that's a nifty idea!

I think putting a couple of astromechs in squads throughout the field so there are mobile repair stations.

This has everything to do with the objectives in play. So many objectives reduce the role of vehicles.

Also 'Sorry about the Mess' with an HQ uplink. Auto-initiative on a unit with the T47's speed means it can hit and run more reliably.

That said, 150 points seems more reasonable considering its capabilities.

I think if you are building a list around Reckless Diversion, you probably want to use units that hit harder, like Fleets or flame RTs.
