I want to pick up a new Rebel cap ship shortly, and wondered what peoples opinions are on these two?
I'm wondering about flexibility, toughness and hitting power. Squadron game not AS important, but interesting nonetheless.
Any thoughts welcome!

What else do you have?

The Home One variant is more flexible in list building if you want only 1 at the moment.
Home One is, IMO, a better first buy. It can built effectively as a carrier or battleship, and boasts some of the best resiliency in the game. The Liberty can be effective, but relies on a weird movement chart to survive and has problems against bombers. These two factors make it a little less flexible and forgiving.

Home One for sure.
It's reliable. Not only can it dish out a decent amount of damage, with all those shields it can be quite tanky. The Liberty is nice, but without defensive retros... I just wouldn't rely on it for sustained fights. I've seen some decent Dodonna and Madine lists with it, but by far the Mc80 Home One has seen more success locally.
I think the lib is overall the more competitvely useful the H1 is much easier, much less meta dependant, and much more casual game friendly.
you can put ackbar and 2 defensive retrofits on it and say come at me bro and do fairly well in most games. The lib flies like a drunk sailor, and is frail as a paper airplane as far as larges go. But it hits like a truck nose on a target.
Liberty is a very strong ship, but it requires some skill to leverage.
The immense flexibility of speed 3+ET, dual turbo and ion cannon can create a very deadly ship that can also run away.

Yup. The best way to counter the bomber vulnerability is often to fly past so fast they can't keep up. Especially true for slower rebel bombers
I think that the Liberty is the better of the two, but as you can see from above there are lots of different thoughts.
It's also very playstyle dependent. Home One broadsides will get somewhat boring because you're going to circle....a lot......at speed two (or 3 if you ET it as well). Liberty can effectively run at speed 4 and, with Madine, can truly dance. Madine Engine techs can take you from the base 101(ET1) yaw to 212(ET1) yaw (and the additional options 122(ET1), 221(ET1), etc.)
People have a poor opinion of Madine but in niche roles, he shines. Double Liberty's are especially entertaining with Madine.
Everything offered here is the opinion of the poster. At the end of the day, the best advice I can give when trying to make this decision is to get on YouTube and look for some battle reports that feature ships of each type and sit through watching them.
Thanks guys, good food for thought ?
When I fight a liberty I’m always amazed at how manoeuvrable they seem to be for a large base.
I always felt Liberty had an offensive character and Home One as an area control ship and for some time I enjoyed using them together ( I would call the combo Calamari Sandwich but no one picked it up ? ) especially till mc-75 came out.
I agree it is easier to loose Liberty compared to Home One but for me it is a bit more fun to play with.
I don't know the size your gaming community but if you can, borrow the ships from a friend and test them before you buy them.
Did someone say Liberty?
The Liberty is a battle cruiser. It isn't as durable as the battleships of Armada, so it relies on maneuvering to avoid damage all while maintaining battleship firepower.
The Home One is a main line battleship that can duke it out against heavy batteries while dishing out equivalent damage. It has more versatility in variants between tanky gun barge vs universal carrier.
I love the liberty, but you have to look at it for what it is. The liberty is a dagger you push in the side of an opponent. You HAVE to support it with a solid fleet outside of the ship itself for it to do its main job (sometimes I lie to myself and say a pelta with 2 xports and a large squadron group does that, it's meh at it). a liberty is not a great brawler. It can brawl, but that's not it's main purpose, it wants to hit the side of your opponents fleet(it also wants to fly fast, be ready for that).
The homeone is better rounded. With engine techs it can be surprisingly fast. It "generally" shoots well, especially with ackbar and quad turrets/leading shots, it works as a squad pusher as well(though, honestly, I don't "love" this use of it because of it's expense to do so).
I would recommend homeone first because it's far easier too use, though I like liberty more.

For an actual answer instead of my shenanigans, this is about it.
Home One is the well rounded and more solid of the two ships. It's a great ship that is pretty forgiving to use. The Assault variant is the toughest ship the Rebs have.
God I love the Lib, but is the opposite of forgiving. Despite the double braces, it is easily the most fragile large ship out there. It's probably more fragile than the Interdictor. If you can make it sing though, it is a nasty dagger in the side.
