The Princess Gambit & Other Fishy Tales

By UberMunchkin, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Greetings Programs!

I hope you are all well today.

After having a summer off for various reasons I have finally managed to arrange an Armada game with my one buddy who plays it. :) We're going to try and get 3 or 4 games in over this weekend and I usually try to bring two lists with me to play. I've pretty much got the lists sorted but am having a bit of a boggle selecting objectives. So, wonderful forumites, I was wondering if you would provide me with the benefit of your advice.

List 1: The Princess Gambit

The Princess Gambit
Author: UberMunchkin

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 400/400

Commander: Leia Organa

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective:
Navigation Objective:

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Leia Organa ( 38 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 89 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 51 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 points)
- Salvation ( 7 points)
- Intel Officer ( 7 points)
- Spinal Armament ( 9 points)
= 74 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)
- Task Force Antilles ( 3 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 42 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)
- Task Force Antilles ( 3 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 42 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)
- Task Force Antilles ( 3 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 42 total ship cost

1 YT-2400 ( 16 points)
1 Rogue Squadron ( 14 points)
2 Lancer-class Pursuit Crafts ( 30 points)
= 60 total squadron cost

This is a fast moving list that is designed to try and Maximize the benefit I get from Leia's ability. The idea is for the Hammerheads to create an escort screen to protect Salvation and for the CR-90s to act as a combination of harassers and maybe objective ships. Most wanted seems like a no brainer here, I can put it on a Hammerhead and pick one of my opponents bigger ships and try to nuke it down before all my Hammerheads get killed, I could even put it on a CR-90 (not the flagship) and try to kite the opposing force around the map. The Squadrons here are a light screen designed to be self activating (all rogues) and able to pack enough of a hit that they can't be ignored.

The big thing I'm leaning on here is Leia's ability + Nav Dial means you can jump speed by +/- 2 each time you use it, so the CR90s can leap all over the place moving between speed 2 & 4 easily, the Hammerheads and Salvation can be concentrating fire for an extra dice and a re-roll. Hopefully the Salvation will be able to do a pretty serious sniper hit or two with those five reds and an Intel officer.

I'm not sure about the others though, maybe Intel Sweep, but maybe not.

Moving on....

And Other Fishy Tales

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 394/400

Commander: Admiral Ackbar

Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery
Defense Objective:
Navigation Objective:

[ flagship ] MC75 Armored Cruiser (104 points)
- Admiral Ackbar ( 38 points)
- Intel Officer ( 7 points)
- Caitken and Shollan ( 6 points)
- Point-Defense Reroute ( 5 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points)
- Ordnance Pods ( 3 points)
= 176 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
= 18 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
= 18 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 51 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Jainas Light ( 2 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 53 total ship cost

2 X-Wing Squadrons ( 26 points)
1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)
1 Rogue Squadron ( 14 points)
1 Biggs Darklighter ( 19 points)
= 78 total squadron cost

This is a kind of spin on the Home One Fish Farm lists, I'm using the MC75, a ship which I have really fallen in love with, a pretty basic X-Wing fighter screen supported by Biggs and Jan Ors with a guest appearance from Rogue Squadron. This list wants to stay at medium to long range and bombard the enemy, the MC75 using it's Reds and combination of XI7 & Intel Officer should be able to deal some serious hits, the transports are there to push squadrons and the Corvettes to flank. Of course with Ackbar leading the proceedings we should be able to throw some pretty reasonable damage. Again, Advanced Gunnery seems like a great pick here, I was thinking I could put it on Jainas Light as opposed to the MC75 and try to hit hard from the flank with double shots, but other than that I'm not sure what objectives fit here.

My opponent flys Imperial and favours the ISD, usually with some Gozanti support and a butt load of TIE Defenders (Hence the ord pods and Point Defence on the MC75) or teamed with something like a super tanky Interdictor.

Thank you in advance for any input.

Missed the last line.

For the first list I would go with opening salvo and salvage run. You have so many ships to benefit from it and your small ships are unlikely to survive a hit from a big ship anyway to suffer from its drawback. Salvage run is an easy minimum 60pts and gives you plenty of cover to hide from firepower and dust fields are just great for keeping your stuff alive till the best moment (deploy them first). On the second list, I would drop rogue squadron for a bomber command centre just because x-wings arent the mist reliable bombers in the world. Add a comms net to the other gr-75 too for some support. Intel sweep could certainly work for the 2nd list but would add quantom storm to one of the gr-75's if thats the route you wanna take, otherwise contested outpost is always good, and planetary ion cannon isnt a bad way to throw out some extra damage. Good luck :)

Leiah cr90s love nav teams too. Get an extra click or speed for the virtual token. You get to do doughnuts in space
