Today I was wondering in which case you would use Caitken and Shollan if you can get Veteran Gunners anyway?

Veteran Gunners
- both factions
- all attack dice
- 5 Pts
From my point on Caitken and Shollan completly inefficient, as you can use Veteran Gunners instead for more dice power and one point less. Or do I missunderstand something? Are there cases C&S are your better way to go?

Veteran gunners is all dice. Always all dice. Even the good dice.
Say you roll a double, Crit , and 3 blanks with your 5 Reds...
With C&S you just reroll the blanks.
With Vet gunners, if you want to reroll anything you have to roll it all again.
Edited by DrasnightaKeep in mind veteran gunners means you have to reroll ALL dice in the attack pool, even the ones you like! So if you rolled 4 reds and got 2 blanks and 2 double hits, you're back to square one. C&S gives you the ability to reroll only the blanks.
Because you might roll 2 doubles and only blanks, and want to keep those doubles. Or reroll a shot that was missing a flotilla-killing accuracy into a shot missing flotilla-killing damage because your blacks are blank now. Any dice pool where you won’t get a “halfway decent” roll? Veteran Gunners (soooo... the Raider-II.) Anything else? Caitken and Shollan. It’s one point more, and a marked boost to damage.
C&S are better because I say they are (just to give another argument on the matter) ?
