Campaign Tracker

By Nonimus, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi all,

Considering I'm regularly playing campaign mode with 2 or 3 groups at the time I would love to have app to help me save all progress more efficiently and easy.

There was one good app for that but for some reason developer never continue adding new expansions and it became unusable.

So, I'm planing to make my own app and i have some ideas that I would like to share and hear your opinion about it (you can add any of yours if you like).

Concept of this app would be to each player can save his own information, example:

When starting new campaign:

-IP would select agenda deck and skill deck

-each RP would select his Hero

After finishing mission:

-IP would save information only necessary for him (agendas, skills...)

-each RP would save there progress (skills, new items...)

With this concept it would require all players to have this app, considering they can only save there own progress.

It wouldn't be mandatory to have it, they can still save there progress in any other way.

So tell me what you think of "every man for himself" idea?

This one is pretty good. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/1ERAM_Akq3bmFJxBDbhuccoUciwbToVh12Hqep28SWkg/edit?usp=sharing

Im also upset at Coolgrass' campaign tracker Apps lack of updates, i have tried to get in contact with them and tried to fund the project.

Also there is an individual Hero Character tracker App for you heroes Here

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dang.daniel.project.ames.ia_charactertracker

That spreadsheet is ok, but idea for saving individually progress is what I'm interested in.

Possibility to see any time how much xp or coin/influence you have, and how much does your adversary.

Phone is more practical to carry then a laptop, and everything can be well packed so the size of the phone is not the problem.

In my group I always play IP and because of that need to save all progress.

So my RP constantly ask what is the next mission, how much xp they have, how much credit, when is the next gear lvl items to appear and so on...

That is the main reason I wanna make app in which every payer can save progress for themselves.

I also wanna make possibility to save progress in mid mission.

BTW Coolgrass was the app I was talking about, i also know for Hero Character tracker App, but I would do something else.

cool. my rebel players are using the the hero tracking app at the moment. it saves their XP and weapon choices, as well as a kill tracker which is an added bonus.

*adding rebel credits might be something i Update in future

I used cool grass' app up until HOTE and i have switched to the spreadsheet due to lack of cool grassy updates

This:

You can easily use it on your phone using the Google Sheets App. It’s actually designed for that.

As I said it is ok, but not the kind of tracker I was looking for

So, you can share the spreadhseet with your players and give them edit permission, then they can enter all their own stuff.

I'm also not sure what you mean by save progress in mid-mission" that's a whole separate level of functionality. Like do you mean whose turn it is and how many hit points they have or what?

It happened to me from time to time, me and my group start a mission and it drags and soon we realize we don't have time to finish it.

So yes, that means saving who got how much dmg, strain, who finish his/her action and who didn't and lots of other stuff.

Do you have a camera on your phone? Or just camera with you? With a click takes an instant record of everything without needing to enter each detail one by one.

How many pic do u need to save all progress, 1, 3,5, 10?

that doesn't sound practical, mine save will require one pic.

Mission progress (not campaign progress) should require 1 or 2 pictures to record the imperial player's and each hero's play area (includes the state of class, item, and supply cards, and all tokens, including damage, strain, and the state of activation tokens).

It sounds much more practical to me to move the hero sheets and cards and tokens in the play areas next to each other and take a single picture than to write down (whether on paper or on an app) the same information when you're in a hurry.

But, YMMV.

I said mission progress not campaign progress.

If you can save IP cards, map and figure position, spent supply cards and all 4 heroes (counting max players) in one or two pictures, then that's one big picture.

So, your initial post was that you wanted an automated campaign tracker. It wasn't until 12 hours later that you said you want something that will track everything mid mission.

The campaign tracker spreadsheet that keeps getting linked to you will give you what you need on the campaign side. You can give your players edit permission on it and they can do their own bookkeeping, just like you ask.

As for the whole separate mid mission tracker. No, I don't think such a thing exists.

You have been given a link for 90% of what you need. I don't disagree that the mid-mission thing could be cool....but I just don't think it's out there.

Depends if you're planning to play with a different group before you continue. 6 pictures will save mission progress, 1 per player to show state of activations and spent class cards and health. 1 picture of the map to show everybody's locations. Keep the cards in baggies in the same order they currently are to keep track of the supply cards. Takes a couple minutes and is way more reliable than writing stuff down. I speak from experience, I've had to put a couple missions on pause. Though usually I prefer to then just leave it on the table as is.

if you're looking for a different way to store progress, consider using Vassal. You'd be able to recreate your play area perfectly with it. And again, more accurate than writing down.

I look forward to seeing your app, I'm intrigued to see how you design something that's easier than taking a single photo for each player's play area and the game board (6 photos max).
