Kelvan, Scruffy, MajorJuggler, Will Barnickle , and Calen Wong review the Rebel faction in second edition over 2 evenings. We try to cover every change and every pilot. Are the Rebels outgunned at the moment or are there some tricks up their sleeve? We also announce the winner of our 2nd edition contest. Our next contest is to revitalize the Jumpmaster.

I'd eventually want to note the time for each ship but I have stuff to do this weekend.

3 hours 36 min. We dug too greedily and too deep.

Where's Sable?

We casted for so long we had to eat something.

Did he at least taste good?

The lion part didn't the eagle part yes.

In the end i get the feeling that certain rebel pilots will be good but generics look a little weak comparatively.

The most important thing to remember is no one knows fully at this point.

Two things jumping out: rules reference says spending a shield makes you lose a shield, which is flip. So you never have to discard a token on Miranda. Also, the Astromech makes your basic maneuvers easier, which is only straight bank and turn.

There was some some good stuff in there but there was a lot of little things that make me not trust the rest of it as much.

You said you dug too deep, but it feels like you took topsoil for a county rather than hitting bedrock in an acre or two.

Edit: also, many of the new squad builders have typos. Does Magva really require you to have the lock action? It’s not on my card out of Saw’s and I don’t see it in the errata page.

That seems fair though, no names die like a red shirt on Star Trek and movie heroes seem to be indestructible dynamo’s of luck and skill. Flavor preserved.

I'll research that. Thank you!

It makes sense that empire generics would be decent.

The problem with basically any rebel generic is that shuttle Sabine is 38 points

There's no reason to reach for any generic before her, unless you're compelled to take a crappy Z for whatever reason

In empire, generics aren't really that much better it's just that you have force multipliers like Howlie and Jonus or Sloane etc to turn them into monsters

Rebels only get lateral support where you get like an additional token on ANOTHER SHIP (Garven/Dutch/cracken being the best because they don't have to lose mods) while howlie etc are free to mod themselves

Poor Two Tubes, Esege etc have to work with freeloaders gobbling up their hard earned tokens :(

Only the Moldy is stacked enough to not care

I don’t mean to call you out, you’re still my favorite podcast (don’t tell the others). But it might be better while we all get our heads around the new rules to pick a squad or two and go deep into interactions and rules as they pertain to that squad, rather than trying to hit everything in the faction all up front.

It feels like an overwhelming amount of stuff, and we don’t want to get everyone passing along wrong information. If everyone on the podcast finds something that they are excited about, hopefully they know all the interactions as it pertains to that and it might spread that way.

Im still gonna listen either way.

Red Xwings might be good, depending on how prominent TIE/ln or bomber swarms are. They all are In2, whilst rebel generic aces are at 3 (blade/red/green/gold).

Still looking for decent arc list. My current pick is Sharra/Norra and Moldy Kyle.

Also hull upgrade on low Ag ships seems like good pick in rebel squads. Better than the regen, at first look.

To your point I don't want to do 3+ hour podcasts.

I'm seeing a lot of swarm tactic Tie swarms, so I'm not fully certain PS 2 is worth it. Certainly @Starslinger72's been looking that direction and I tend to agree with him.

I'm going to be playing swarms primarily and this is one that I'm currently looking at. Fires on 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4

I suppose it depends on what you need out of a generic. I don't see Sabine being part of a Joust, she's not sturdy enough. You'd need a Y-wing, B-Wing or a Gunship to handle that.

Yeah, she's definitely more of a flanker but she's quite good for the points, even if you don't trick her out much.

This was the point Will brought up although I tend to agree the Sabine is superior in a vacuum.

Do you mean they're firing at 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4? Have you had a chance to put it on the table yet?

I've been running this and I'm not sure if Del or Wampa is the answer. The Crackshots aren't getting used all of the time, but part of that might be not planning better. Del's ability against other swarmy lists is lacking, but it's nice against stuff like Boba/Fenn. Seyn/Gideon + Ruthless synergy is real and pretty great.

Man Wampa is very nice and if anyone shoots him it's a good situation for you. I'm in on swarm tactics again, feels like wave 1 all over again.
