Composure and Agile Gunner are $40 upgrades?

WHAT GOOD ARE THESE PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES IF I DON'T GET TO RABBLERABBLERABBLE!?!?!?!

Stop right there. I know I've said it before, but I am very much looking forward to that expansion. Do you think they're going to have the Phantom actually be removable from the Ghost? Eager anticipation. Can't wait to see what they come up with!

I hope so :)

I've mentioned Legion twice already - here it is a third time. If you're not familiar with its release format then please acquaint yourself. Google it. I've already explained that Legion players never have to buy out of faction for universal upgrades and this is the model they're using for X-wing. This is not being a "fanatic", this is being an informed consumer answering a question with facts. The primary difference here is that Legion's release schedule differs from X-wing's - they release one expansion per month, whereas X-wing releases in Waves.

I mean, I really want to use Composure. It lets you easily chain into a white Focus on multiple ships. But I guess you get to decide what cards are interesting for everyone?

So you want this card because its accidentally too good due to bad wording (pretty sure devs didn't plan to allow you double white actions). And you want it NOW 'cause it's too hard to wait a few months for an imperial or rebel expansion with it.

What's next ? They will errata the card (or "failing action" rules) so it works like intended, then we get another thread where you whine about having "bought a useless card from the secondary market"??

Which is a pretty big difference that many people seem to not acknowledge.

Unlike Legion it's not unlikely that one would have to wait several months (or more) to get a card in their faction.

You do realize that s largely the crux of competitive gaming, right?

Finding stuff thst' s too good (by intention or not) and playing it as much as possible

It's madness to think you can faction lock and not buy anything else.

Sooooo....you have proof that Composure and Agile Gunner won’t be in a future Rebel and Imperial expansions?

I have a proof that they don't release at the same time, and that the conversion kits and the fist wave were purposefuly designed to include exclusive upgrades for other factions with the intention of exploiting competitive players, which means the promise is completely worthless.

Do you have any proof that all factions wouldn't eventually get all upgrades if the first edition continued for the next ten years?

nvm I wasn't supposed to argue about this ****, I already got a moderator warning

No, I don’t. But you don’t see me claiming otherwise.

Cry me a river. How dare a company want their most die hard players to buy all the things (something they were already doing anyway). How exploitive! The horror!!!

Buy what you want. Or don’t.

I won’t be buying into every faction, and if that means I wait for some cards to be errata back to what was intended before I get it, fine.

Personally, I find it completely reasonable for FFG to give people incentive to buy more. Even accounting for all the ships you needed to buy just for the cards, the price of a top tier squad in 1.0 was reasonable (in line with many other miniature war games) so it was a pretty good business model, IMO at least.

What I deeply dislike is FFG's marketing talk. Releasing must-have upgrades with a ship then, at some point in the future, putting them in other ships belonging to other factions was something they were already doing in 1.0. Presenting it as something 'new&improved' is utter bull in my book.

I'd bet money that those cards at in the next 2 conversion kits.

That would still not solve the issue for Rebel and Imperial players :)

So if Rebel or Imperial players want to include a card like Composure on their A-Wings or Interceptors, they have to pay $40 on something that is otherwise useless to them? Is that correct?

The FFG App... It is supposed to be available on the thirteenth as well and should be legal for tourneys.

If you want to play with it on September 13, that's correct. FFG has said that they'll eventually release cards in every faction, but didn't commit to any timeline.

So they could release it five years down the road, and technically they haven't lied to consumers, right?

It amazes me that folks don't see what is wrong with this kind of apologism. FFG has lied to us about how they're handling 2E (in several areas). Adding "technically" to an excuse for them doesn't make it "not lying." At best it makes it "not legally actionable." (Hint: most lying is not legally actionable.)

I’d actually like to know - aside from the argument about specific upgrade cards, what else has been untrue about 2.0? The only one I’ve seen is potentially the card availability.

Yeah, I don't hold out much hope that this will amount to much. Autothrusters was released for the Empire, but I still own two StarVipers. Without a commitment to a timeline, the 'eventually' doesn't mean anything.

What's the proof? I don't have an opinion on this. I'm curious.

The content of the conversion kits is the proof. There are several cards (Maul, Moldy Crow, BT-1, 0-0-0) that aren't included in the kits for all the factions that can use them, despite FFGs statement that one wouldn't have to buy other factions.

Most of them are also very good cards, so one might speculate further regarding FFG doing that on purpose to push competitive players to buy all conversion kits.

I’m pretty sure composure is a useless upgrade on A-wings and interceptors. Because we all know that you won’t have any when flying one. ?

Yeah you’re wrong, they said you still need to own the cards for tournament play in one of their demos.

If there is proof that physical cards are not needed for tournament play (including premeire events) then obviously the answer to my OP is no.

Just print the darn card off, slip it in a sleeve over another card and play it. No one gives a sh.. No one other than maybe FFG cares . We are here to have fun. The sky isn't falling.

I’m asking about the proof that things were purposefully designed to force competitive players to buy other factions.

So how do you think it happened, they just kinda forgot to add those and purely by chance every single kit contains exclusive upgrades from another faction? Or is it another example of the forum favourite Premium American Deluxe Printed Cardboard RTX where the cost of material is so high the poor FFG just can't afford to add four more cards to each kit?
