First off, definitely want to be clear this is in no way a 2.0 bash thread. I simply need help :-)

I fly my Imperial Squad under a purple banner, with custom paint jobs (black and purple) as well as purple bases from the 1.0 Colored Base Kits (official). I am also a huge TIE Punisher die hard (even though in 1.0 they really did suck) and am looking forward to seeing how I can wreck havoc with them in 2.0.

My problem is that I haven't heard of Colored Bases being an offering in the 2.0 world. If I look down to the table, and Darth Vader is flying on his purple base, and my two Cutlass Class Tie Punishers are on their clear (new) medium bases... I am going to lose every match simply because I will be distracted as to how lame that looks :-)

Anyone hear of new Colored Base packs that include the Medium Base? Anyone know of any place I might be able to get colored bases custom made? ( Nute: Is that Legal? Palatine: I will make it legal)

I appreciate any help you all might be able to offer.

Painting your bases is perfectly legal.

I'm pretty sure they announced a medium base pack, but I'm not sure when it's dropping.

They didn't. There are med bases in the conversion kits but they're not available elsewhere at the moment except for the Reaper, Saw, and 2e Firespray yet.

Ooo, great Idea. Any special Paints I need for the plastic? or can I used the same paints that I paint my miniatures with? ( Vallejo Game Air Alien Purple Paint)

Get yourself a purple rattle-can (spray paint) and paint those naked bases.

If you have an air brush, that should work too.

krylon offers spray paint designed to stick to plastics.

Trouble is there are so many different types of plastic, nothing is guarenteed.

If you get translucent paint you can match the FFG colors. Car parts stores have them in a line called Metal Cast. The purple was really close.

I've heard of people using a colored Sharpie marker to color their bases, and then seal them with a spray sealer. That might work, and preserve the translucent nature of the base.

If you’re going to go the painting route, consider painting the underside instead of the top of the base. Less wear and tear and it provides a bit more of the translucent look, even if the paint itself isn’t actually translucent.
