Just one charge, and you're not Slamming clear to reload like Nus did, so that downtime hurts. You DO get to reload, and I prioritise it quite highly as an action, but it's not enough to keep you going forever.

Good to know. I'd think it would be pretty effective combined with AS and a K turn, but yeah 1 charge per turn won't set everything straight.

Does he typically survive long enough to drop more than two?

I mean, if you eat concentrated fire he dies in two rounds

But he's kinda of ridiculously mobile, so that'd be entirely the fault of the player

2nd Ed, baby! We ain't dealing with no more bull undodgable turrets

In 1.0 Whisper had trouble against multiple aces, but if a single ace was tailing Whisper here what I did:

(This assume the ace in question isn't in a ship with a movable firing arc or a rear firing arc)

Make sure I'm cloaked.

Decloak to the left or right. Dial in a 1-turn in the opposite direction.

One of three things can happen depending on the other player's experience with Phantoms:

Thinking they still have a shot: They'll go one straight which lines them up for a shot in the flank.

If they have a Tallon Roll: They'll Tallon roll, if they guess which way you're moving they'll have a shot on you, but they'll be stressed. If they guess wrong you'll have a decent shot.

If they don't have a Tallon Roll and they guess what you're doing, then they're going to pull a K-turn. Shot quality will depend on the ship involved, with a TIE defender being the most dangerous.

And there was much rejoicing.

I was thinking about trying this out.

"Whisper" — TIE Phantom 52
Juke 4
Agent Kallus 6
Ship Total: 62
Darth Vader — TIE Advanced 70
Sense 6
Fire-Control System 3
Ship Total: 79
Soontir Fel — TIE Interceptor 52
Predator 2
Ship Total: 54

Total 195

If you can’t afford SR on Vader then you cannot afford Vader.

N ot sure what Vader's doing with sense, but seems fine otherwise

Of course, I'd personally never touch Soontir (he'd blank out and die before even getting to the table)

Plenty of alternatives, though, like Juke Echo or Palp reaper (because no, you can never have too many "focus" tokens)

Sense is there because I couldnt afford reflexes and have a bid, and the other force upgrades arent worth it for him.

YOU DONT HAVE TO STUFF HER WITH UPGRADES TO MAKE HER A CONSIDERABLE THREAT

That is the theme of 2.0, and all for the better. Slots are now options that you customize with, rather than being obligatory (yeah, exceptions including munitions existed in 1.0, but if the cost of a single piece were reduced by 1 pt, then the wombo-combo-wing would demand that all the slots would be refilled).

SR is completely negated if your opponent has the initiative and a reasonably mobile I6. True, you can still counterplay with it, but at that point, you could do likewise with other upgrades. I'm not discounting SR--it is undoubtedly the best force upgrade, especially for naturally boosting force users like Inky (and will be epic on Kylo), as well as the objective best card to staple to Vader even when you self-damage--but you can still do pretty well without it on Vader. For instance, Sense + Afterburners are an absolute blast on Vader, especially if a Lambda is coordinating nearby.

SR is amazing at I1, it is absolutely not negated if you are first player. Also, Sense just turns Vader into a support craft, at I6 he's going to see everybody's dial first anyways.

One thing I've done in preparation for flying Phantoms is order some Evade tokens from Highbridge Designs on Etsy which will have the Cloak symbol on the reverse side. This way all I have to do is flip the token when I Cloak/Decloak.

This is how you fly Whisper:

That's a terrific idea.
