So im prepping for a store tourney on sat and a majority of the players are rebel only. Im one of the few in town that plays both factions. Was thinking a fully loaded atst veers and troop units to taste.
Edited by The captnIs Imperials worth play in a extremely rebel heavy area? Imps ftw.
I approve, Veers/weiss is amazing!
Lucky you. You don't have to play alot of mirror matches.

Ive yet to play a mirror match. They are despised in my regualar group.
Yeah, you are lucky. We're like 70% Imperials here.
Imperials are always worth playing...
Whatever MOST people are playing, play the opposite and fully paint your army. You'll be the belle of the ball. Everyone will hope for the chance to play with you.
This goes for all game systems.
Edited by TauntaunScoutATSTs can be underwelming. Bring 3 speeder bikes and flame snowtroopers with impact nads and good terrain. You can dispatch the rebel scum in a hurry.
Thanks guys ill finish the last details of my imperial army and see if i can round up a 3rd set of speeders instead of the atst. Im a little better equiped in rebels but empire is fun to play.

Or you can be the winner of GenCon with an AT-ST list... *whistles innocently*
I dunno personally I like both.
@CaptainRocket Congrats. I haven't seen ATSTs piloted well. I am sure there is a good way to do so, given the terrain is right, to be very successful with one.
I think AT-STs get a lot of unnecessary flak. As people learn how to play them well, they will become more and more prominent in the competitive scene. I personally have been able to use them to great effect, though that may just be due to the local players' inability to deal with them.
I managed to find a loaner set of bikea for a third set. Aa far as the atst goes their is 2 list built and my final decision is gonna be based on terrian.

Ive only ran mine once, kinda plopped it in the corner and shot what ever got close enough to shoot. Ive only played against it once as well. Never been afraid of the atst. I figured it would be a nice choice against all the rebels. Looks like womt be the only imperial player there as my son want to join me on this tourney.

That seems to be the general strategy that I see, and I think it wastes the strength of the unit. Sure, if your opponent has a bunch of anti armor stuff, then playing conservative may be the way to go. However, in my experience, that is not often the case, especially versus rebels. If your opponent's strategy is to ignore it, then march it right up and make them pay for it. Have Veers feed it aims, and get right up in their face. I usually cover a contested objective and dare someone to come close. If you can't tell, I love the AT-ST.

No it wasn't me! I was just surprised you hadn't heard about the winning list!
For what it's worth I've always been very happy with my ATST after a couple games of driving it into walls or over my own troops. *winces*

In another post someone was complaining about the terrain at gencon. ATST rock when you aren't playing by the rules and don't have enough terrain. Guessing that is what happened.

Perfect with your son, you can rule the tables as father and son!

So we just got home from the tourney today. Had fun and brought home the win overall. We was running late and with luck of being late it was a father son 1st round. Rapid reinforcements Recover the supplies major offensive. Turn 2 i drop in some snows range 1 of a crate my shadows grabbed middle crate and have 3 units range one of another Game was called at round 4 and i won 3-0 on objectives. Imp vs imp

Only picture i took all day.
Round 2
Joey was my opponent. He was running veers atst 2 bikes stormies to fill it out. Limited visibility and breakthrough advanced positions. I had fun plucking troops off while. His bike didnt fare well either and at round 4 he had veers, 2 squad leaders, and an atst. Im still sitting on all my squads veers and 2 bike units breathing down my opponents back line. Round 6 i finish wiping units off the board minus the atst. I wind up with 5 units in his deployment zone. Another imp on imp match.
Wound up being an even split of imps and rebels on the day. I had fun amd scored a game mat for my win.

Edited by The captnJust a heads up, Environmental Gear on snowtroopers is completely wasted. They already have speed 1, so they are already unaffected by difficult terrain.

Yea i realized that middle of game 2 and had used it exactly 0. Point couldve been used for the bid or an extra body. This was our first legion tourney. Gonna try to get some more games under my sons belt so he will be better prepared for the next one.
