2.0 Cassian Andor vs Informant

By SithTimmy, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I have tried a couple Scum builds with the Informant and I am liking the card. I was considering a Rebel build and noticed Cassian Andor. Both occur during the System phase, both involve the dial. As I understand the rules, when it comes to two actions during the same phase, the player chooses the order they are resolved... if this is true, would I be able to use the informant to be able to show the dial before i used tied to "guess" Cassian's Dial?

Am I missing something?

Nope, doesn't look like it.

You can definitely pay 11 points for the ability to perfectly predict the correct move against a single ship per game, if it's in range.

That ability is not worth 11 points, though.

The Informant upgrade only assigns the condition to an enemy ship, it is the condition itself on the enemy ship that flips the dial face-up. The opponent would have to have the Initiative so that the condition triggers first, and then you'd be able to follow it up with Cassian.

Thank you for the response. Innese, great job going through the series of events, it makes sense the way you explained it. And yes the 11 points for a maybe 1 time a game event could be spent a lot more efficiently.

But you aren't spending 11 points for a 1 time event. You are spending 11 points to be able to to keep 1 ship at bay because if it gets too close you will be able to spy it, and for Cassian who can take away the most dangerous move from another ship preventing it from K-turning at a crucial moment to get a clean out of arc shot or having a low init blocker from getting in the correct place to block your ace. AND if the stars align you get to do that perfect prediction trick.

The point is you still have all the functionality of both upgrades for the whole game, so you aren't paying 11 for a 1 time event.

Also, Sense would work better that Informant. It is not ship restricted and has a longer range.

I'm curious to know, have you played V1.0?

Because The Informant is just a worst Intelligent Agent, so I'm curious to know why you like The Informant ? (Yes I know that Intelligent Agent could not interact with the old Cassian)

Except that they are mostly bad on themself so...

I played several games with Informant on Firespray w/Slave 1 title card. If I was in range, Informant would allow me to see where the targeted ship was going. When Boba Fett activates, I could respond by flipping my maneuver template if needed. Firespray has a rear firing arc so either way I could usually get a shot off. Boba Fett also has the Pilot ability of rerolls so that is an added bonus.

I did play 1.0 but did not play Intelligent Agent much. Since the Informant triggers in the system phase, i can still respond when my ships activate.

Intelligent Agent was triggering at the start of the activation phase. Exactly the same situation could happen in V1. The Informant is really a worst Intelligent Agent (Unique and assigned to one ship only)

This is not correct. Cassian triggers at the end of Planning in 1e, strictly before Intel Agent.

I was talking about the Slave 1 situation he was describing... He was talking like he could not react to the information he was gathering with the Agent in V1.

For Cassian, if you take time to read everything I said in this post, was already settled, I said it was the only thing no possible in V1...

SithTimmy talk like The Informant is "THE" revelation of the second edition for him and I'm trying to figure out why, as except for Cassian, the upgrade is just a worst Intelligent Agent from the V1...

Yes Intelligent Agent was usable in some build meant to block and bump, but it was never a game breaker and something that needed to be nerfed...
