Is there Star Wars shipbuild/designing app?

By Hiemfire, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I'm not very artistically inclined but like to theory craft different ship builds and designs. Sadly I'm limited to trying to use cut/paste and trying to reformat existing images in paint if I want to make a visual representation of a ship because of that very lack of artistic skill. Is there a ship designer/builder app out there for Star Wars that I could make use of?

I guess I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

For like, X-Wing cards? There's Strange Eons for 1.0 which is really nice. For 2.0 there's almost nothing. Odanan has a Photoshop template shared somewhere on these forums, and I made a Microsoft Publisher thing that's unfortunately super hard to use.

For just designs of custom ships? Not that I've seen. It depends on what level of detail you want. If you just want to stick bricks together to make simple floorplans and stuff I bet there's something out there, I just haven't seen it. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

One idea I do have - interestingly enough, even if you haven't built with LEGO, LEGO Digital Designer is a good intro to CAD and you can build some fun sort of blocky spacecraft in there, now that LEGO has so many thousands of types of parts.

Custom ships was what I meant. :) Exterior, interior, loadout, etc. LEGO can be fun, but it isn't to the type of detail I'm hoping for. Thanks for being willing to help. I'll keep digging off and on, though I'm not expecting much.
