Thanks, custom mirrored silver with dark red inlays from Highbridge Designs!

Was there an extra charge for that custom job?

The # of people who seem to have those acrylic (or other form of custom) Range rulers/Maneuvering rulers, makes me wonder. WHO still actually uses the cardboard ones that come in the core sets?

People who are new or don't play competitively, I'd imagine.

I need to replace my acrylics, but I won't until I know whether I'm committing to 2.0 or not.

So one has to use acrylic if one is to play competitively?

Not at all. People primarily get them for looks and a little because they're more durable.

How are people planning on storing the sleeved cards? (assuming one uses the FFG individual card sleeves)

I think it's one of those "quality of life" upgrades that's not specifically necessary. By the time you're serious enough to consider them, though, you've probably spent enough on X-wing and play enough that you'll get tons of use out of them. Plus, it's a relatively small purchase (compared to your 3rd Millennium Falcon ?).

Also, once you use acrylic anything, it's really hard to go back to cardboard.

Acrylic templates and tokens are frequently prizes given out for tournament play, so people who play competitively are more likely to have acrylic stuff because they won them.

It's relatively small for some. I've been staring at a $100 Curled Paw cart for the past two weeks. Templates, tokens, Aurebesh target locks, spare shield tokens, spare charges...

That makes sense then.

I have bought almost all of the tokens, templates, and ID/Locks from them. I highly recommend them. I also, in the case of my target locks and other tokens, painted them so they stand out and don't get mixed up with people who have the same or similar tokens. (They come "masked" so painting is super easy.)

Not at all. I have some nice acrylic templates that happened to be in a 2nd hand batch of X-Wing I bought. I've always reasoned the money you'd spend on shiny templates is better spent on shinier new ships :P

I have the adjustable artist tube from Hobby Lobby, and its pretty good for 2 mats. The shoulder strap wasn't good though, it broke off a while ago. Most game nights I take a single mat in a FFG mat box (rolled up). I'm working now on a solution that has a decent shoulder strap and uses 3 of these: https://www.ultrapro.com/product_info.php?products_id=1464

I like that tube because its clear (I have many mats) so I can see which mat is which. It only holds 1 mat though, unlike the artist tubes where you can roll up 2 together. I think I'm just going to duct tape 3 of those tubes together around a broomstick and work a shoulder strap in somehow.

2 eylet screws should do the trick.

It was part of a large custom order (which I've had Ben do for me before as well in the past). I'd suggest contacting him directly on Etsy for a price quote - the mirror material is more expensive than his standard template material.

Standard ultra pro 9-page card sheets in binders.

Anyone have any solutions for organizing your cards? In terms of moving from table to table in tournaments/multiple games vs. just dealing with the mess/clutter of all those cards.

For me, i go with all the cards in order of what type of upgrade they are.

Titles

Mods

Elite

Ordinance as one group

Cannons

systems

Tech

Turrets

Crew.

Then in their individual groupings, i group them. So all the 'dead-eyes" go together, same with all the swarm tactics. Same with all the X torpedos etc..

For mat storage, do you guys prefer folding them up? Rolling them up and storing them in one of those shipping tubes, or do you go a little more classy, with one of those rigid like Map/art tubes??

I store mine in baseball bat display tubes.

It is funny and awesome. ;)

Thanks for the shout out! My wife has taken over the SEO for my Etsy shop (which I never even looked at lol) and was like "2nd most group of users who have visited your site are from a place called community.fantasyflightgames.com...." and I was like huh I never really go over there and thus found this thread lol.

Been playing since 2013 and have gone thru a myriad of storage/carrying options. For tournaments, I strictly roll with a lunchbox and my template trays and a box that holds my ship line up. Dice go into a Band-aid Star Wars edition tin that they put out when TFA was released. Tokens go into a small segmented compartment. Damage deck is in a holder I also sell. And the cards, dials, and rocks I keep loose inside. I also have a pen for scoring. And it all fits into the lunchbox.

I used to roll with a Flight deck, a cogotwo template tray, and a larger small parts container for ships, token, deck etc. It was kinda cumbersome. A buddy in my club was using a lunchbox and asked if I could design a template tray for him that would fit in the lunchbox. Since then, i've gone to the lunchbox set up as well coz it keeps everything but your range 3 rules in a nice compact parcel that can easily be put into my backpack. I only roll with an Empire Strikes Back lunchbox to keep it old school.

Storage of Second Edition for casual night is a problem. I don't have a solution for it yet. Someone on reddit posted their Plano tool box that has four small parts compartments that I might try. My only issue is that that player didn't have every ship out there so I'm not sure it can hold everything, especially the large ships. It would be nice to have everything all in one carryable container without it being something that needs to be wheeled in.

But the nice thing about owning a 3D printer shop is I can possibly come up with solutions. For those of you interested in the lunchbox tray, I may be releasing a couple add on trays: one to hold tokens flat against the surface, and a top tray that can hold your ships in their bases. Something to consider and if any one has ideas, feel free to toss them at me!

Fyi, the Plano 1374 is the cheapest I've seen it in years on amazon right now ($35.40). Can't buy the 4 trays that come with it separately for that price. I couldn't resist since I need the trays anyway when the new factions release.
