What Ship Do You Want Most Of All?

It doesn't interest me, and NOT just because it's a carrier. It looks like a modern aircraft carrier - flat top, exposed bridge, no guns. It does everything the Quasar can and little more.

By comparison, the Venator is a dedicated combat carrier nearly on par with the ISD1. Even 30 years out of date I'd expect some solid warship stats.

I really don't see the MC85 (or the Resurgent) as huge ships. The Executor is presented as this awe-inspiring ship of great size and capability, visibly dwarfing the Star Destroyers around it. That's a huge ship- something that makes a point of being bigger than everything that came before it.

Since neither of the NT ships approaches that size, really, I see them as being hull 10+ large ships with batteries slightly larger than the heavies in play now. They'll make an impact by having two upgrade slots naturally on the big ships (like standard Resurgent comes with two weapons teams or something) around the 160 point level. If SSDs end up as one-ship lists in competitive play, These new hyper larges would approach that category as well, but be a little more practical about it.

Of the NT, it's the Mandator IV that will be a huge ship since it makes a big deal of being visibly larger than any of the other ships contemporary with it. But like dealing with the subjugator if it ever came to the game, the engine needs a mechanism to deal with starships firing one (or two) massive cannons instead of clusters of turbolasers and smaller guns.

I agree with almost everything except that they would have batteries slightly larger than the heavies now, the MC85 has quite a bit less firepower than the ISD, but could see it based on reading I have done after seeing people talk about it here it could be speed 3 with engine tech, or maybe even 4 on a large ship (it is supposed to be fast), it is big (not huge I think but still a large ship) so lots of hull, and is also supposed to have great shields, so a great tank but not a DPS, not even as secondary, could very possibly be out gunned by some mediums.

I envision all the ships to be era-locked, but regardless of that wish, I don't see what relevance the Quasar has. Nor the Venator.

Glad you're here to tell me that you're not interested in the ships I am!

I'm definitely part of Team Venator, even if only as part of the Imperial faction. But I'd very much prefer FFG turn it into a Rebel 'captured' ship, both to give them a second medium base and a decent carrier that isn't a Nebulon. I'm envisioning MC-30 like firing arcs and dice, but with perhaps red instead of blacks for both versions, to give it a long range focus, along with double-blue AA armament.

I'd enjoy a title that grants an Experimental Retrofit slot and a Rebel-Only 'cloaking device' ER that prevents the ship from being targeted at long range, and obstructs the ship at medium range.

At the moment I'm most keen to see ST era ships, so the MC85 Star Cruiser (Raddus), Nebulon C frigate, Virgillia bunkerbuster, and Vakbeor frigate for the Resistance.

Then Resurgent-class Star Destroyer (Finalizer), Mandator IV Dreadnaught (Fulminatrix), Maxima-A heavy cruiser (Poe Dameron comics) and the Light Cruiser (TFA and Poe Dameron comic) for the First Order. I have mixed feelings about whether I would want the Mega-class Star Dreadnought in the game.

I love the hammerhead front design of that last light cruiser. Would buy.

Strike-class Medium Cruisers could fill 2 critical unfilled niches for the Imperials:

1. A general purpose Small/Medium ship that doesn't require "fixers", like Arquitens really wanting Jerjerrod or Vader for example.

2. A cheaper ship that can help fill out point holes in a list, and can preform reliably regardless of the Commander.

Bonus points for the unique (for the Empire) shape that isn't another triangle (although I do love murderous triangles).

The strike class is ugly as sin tho.

I love that! For the record, there is always room in my display case for more ships!

I need to tweak the model again since as-is shapeways won't accept this.

Also an underside for the Maxima was released, it doesn't have the flat bottom like I've depicted here.

Funny I kind of like the look, not a beauty but kind of like the A-10 I think.

Cool! Post a link when you get it listed.

I would also PM Mel as I know he has shared his keyhole and peg parts for mounting on Armada stands.

A Dark Trooper boarding team would outright slaughter the crew of any ship smaller than a MC30 though...

Here's a question that could be an entire thread by itself, why is there no Imperial or First Order support ships ever on the big screen?

If you go by just the movies it would seem that the Empire and First Order have only 2 and 3 capital ships apiece.

Cause why waste the money/resources on them? It is why we don't get massive battles honestly.

It's a conscious decision as Lucasfilm doesn't have a problem with making lots of different ships for the Rebellion, but it is an indirect problem for us. Aside from the ISD and SSD, did any other Imperial capital ships have an appearance in the movies? That means that most of the Imperial Faction would be unfamiliar to casual fans looking into Armada.

Well, for the original movies, it was probably at least in part a financial/logistical issue. But it is probably the case that they also wanted to portray the empire as a monolithic, homogeneous entity the eschews any sort of individualism. So all the ships are the same, all the uniforms are the same, all the armor is the same. With only exceptions being when it seemed necessary.

Rebel Alliance "Air Cruiser" from Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, it having a powerful main cannon would be really interesting mechanic for the rebellion having an extremely hard hitting single target cannon like that. Reason I say the rebels version and not the Imperial, is Imperial looks like a box with tie wings. Also, it would trigger my nostalgia pretty hard to have a full 3D Model sitting on the table of this thing being escorted by A-Wings.

I would also love to see someone design a representation for the Alderaanian War Frigate for this game, that way we could use it to recreate Rogue Squadron in the Bacta War.

Bothan Assault Cruiser would be a great looking ship to get added, giving a nod to the OT and all the sacrificial bothans spys. The assault cruiser is the one in the very middle. Off topic, it reminds me of the Pillar of Autumn from the Halo Universe in a way.

Maybe not in the movies, but with the video games being brought into the limelight, especially with the Battlefront II EA edition being **** on so badly by the masses, footage of a LOT of various other ships have been shown from classic Starwars titles, when people compare the classic games, content, story, and everything else to EA's attempt.

I do believe that it makes Imperial expansions a bit more difficult to sell than Rebel expansions.

You can't help but get more excited for a release of a ship that was in the films as opposed to novels, video games, etc. Not saying that I don't enjoy Star Wars novels and games, but I think seeing a Raider chasing the Falcon or a Gladiators being escorts to ISDs would get people more interested in those ships.

Sadly it will NEVER happen, not only did Disney damage their OWN respect, but completely obliterated any semblance for the want of a new starwars movie by fans of the series. To top it off with the team up of Electronic Arts for exclusive rights for video games, pretty much cemented in me not giving a rats *** about anything new relating to starwars. I am a firm beliver of restoring the former EU, even the Yuuzhan Vong, dispite me not really liking them, because at least it was better then anything Disney came out with. The only thing from Disney wars I even remotely like, is the U-Wing Transport, mainly because it was one of the few ships that I feel LOOKS like it paid attention to the OT art direction, that said, everything else about Rogue One I kinda was really disillusioned with, especially since it **** over one of my favorite expanded universe games and backstory, Dark Forces. It was a really great game personally, and if the reviews of the sequels are any indication, were also very solid as well.
