FFG/Asmodee knew who they were getting bed with.

Our Spies intercepted a video conferance between FFG/Asmodee CEO and Alliance:

Alliance: Mein Fu... (sorry wrong tape, rewind)
Alliance: We can report some excellent results regarding the back-ordering status of the conversion kits. We are almost sold out.
FFG/Asmodee: Goooood...., how about the rest of the stuff?
Alliance: We are sorry to report only anemic ordering of dials and dice. What were you guys thinking when you produced 10 containers of them. No one is converting their dials!
FFG/Asmodee: Our friends in Palladium books said that we can count on retail sales once the product hit the stores to fund further waves with them. What can we do to bolster orders?
Alliance: Why don't you make a Launch Party kit and give it out to stores that order some of that junk with the conversion kits?
FFG/Asmodee: Good idea! Then we can do a wave 2.0 launch party event and have the community put the pressure on small brick and mortar stores to order some of that.
Alliance: Our records suggest that each store must order at least 30 of each of the dials and dice packs in order to get the stock out of the storehouse.
FFG/Asmodee: Not bad, they might even be able to make a profit by the time X-Wing 3.0 is announced. Lets go with your plan then.

Oh, this is definitely Alliance screwing smaller stores.

Yup, at a time when many brick-n-mortar stores are now caught sitting unawares with shelves full of 1.0 stuff that they'll really struggle to move, especially with places like Barnes & Noble liquidating X-Wing and so many incredibly cheap ships and collections up on the secondary market right now.

Remember that time when FFG made that big announcement about how their merger with Asmodee would be an important step in taking measures to support and protect the friendly local gamestores? Because I don't think they themselves remember that goal, especially having gone with Alliance. I've never met an FLGS owner who had a positive impression of Alliance...

Yeah, same thing here in europe. The distributor doesn't know anything about damage decks or launch kits and questions are ignored by Asmodee. A gaming store had sold all old ships and will in future pretty much only buy a little bit more than what people are ordering.

I can say that our LFGS did not order any where near what this thread is saying and is getting the kit. Maybe its region based/ IL store with no issue and a small to medium order netted him one.

In Poland the damage deck situation is indeed confusing (I still don't know if ordering online and collecting the order in person in the local B&M store qualifies me for one) but the distributor answers questions on social media, and when aksed about the launch party stuff they said the stores get six card sets for every batch of six core sets ordered, for free.

My FLGS owner told me the same thing. We won't be getting the Launch Party kit either, since we still have dice packs and dial covers left over from when they first were released. It's extremely disappointing that they're handling the events in this way, as it hurts small shops. It also doesn't help that FFG had 2.0 Cores, Conversion kits, and all the Wave 1 ships at GenCon, as those are all sales that gaming stores won't be seeing from their players.

Some extra context: We are hearing in Canada that the requirement was just one set of launch event cards per case of core sets. So sounds like it must be distributor thing in the US?

Same in Poland - 6 sets of cards for each 6 Core sets ordered (IIRC they come in boxes of 6).

EDIT: @eMeM was first, shame on me for replying before reading the whole thread :P FWIW, my LGS has confirmed I will get the bonus damage deck if I pick up my online preorder in person.

Ok guys, I had a serious argument with my local store and need confirmation to something.
If you know a store that did get the Launch Party Kits, can you confirm the following to me.
How many cards of each type came in the set?
Did the set came for free for the store or they had to purchase it from the distributor (and if so how much)?
Are people required to pay to partisanship in the launch party?
Private message is fine if you don't want to disclose this info in public, I have no intention to shame a store or something.
