Launch Party Kit??? No party for my store :(

By drail14me, in X-Wing

So, I'm hearing that in order for a store to get the Launch Party Kit, they have to order $1200 worth of X-Wing Items? The launch kit is only available with orders that large and it does not appear to be a way just to order the Launch Party Kit alone.

This sucks for us smaller stores. I understand if they give the kit away with a large order but they should also make it available as a stand alone PURCHASE for smaller stores. Our store only has about four regular X-Wing players and we're in a small town. We may only have four players at our store but we're just as excited about the launch of 2nd edition as anyone else and we'd like to be able to have a Launch Party as well. We're working hard to recruit new players. Had three new ones at the store last week. Maybe a Launch Party Kit would help us get more. Just sucks that we can't even PURCHASE a Launch Party kit.

can you get a link to where you saw this? I was told my store was getting a launch party kit and im sure there not big enough to order that much.

I was told this by my store owner. He called his supplier today to see about ordering the Launch Party Kit. He was told the kit was only part of a $1200 order of X-Wing core sets, conversions, dice packs and dial covers.

Also, listen to the latest podcast from OCX. They talk about the same order requirements.

Can you double check with your store and see how they got theirs?

Oof, dad reacts in the chat only please.

I’ve posted on here elsewhere about the requirements to get these kits, nobody seemed to believe me on it. Definitely unhappy about it myself. I run the events at our local store and it’s a small store, he couldn’t justify spending money on items that won’t sell so we aren’t getting a kit either. It would have been nice for these to be available to smaller stores without them having to order stock that will set on the shelves. My store was told the numbers and honestly he stopped listening after 30 of each dial kit.

There ain't no party like a 2.0 launch party 'cuz a 2.0 launch party don't start for less than the GDP of a small village.

Seems a shame that it didn't have an order code like the game night kits with a 1 per store restriction. At least the min order sounds like a box quantity rather than a dollar amount... since the retailer cost of the promo damage decks isn't included in their purchase order price to count toward a cost threshold.

As a fascinating aside, my LGS isn't giant, but they've stayed sold out of dial upgrade kits since day one. I've literally shown up on restock days and bought both imperial upgrades that they got before they got tagged and on the shelf.

I asked my local store. He told me hes getting one and the it was pre-ordered 6-8 weeks ago and had nothing to do with how much he bought. Im wondering if this is the same thing you guys are talking about. He said it has different tournys including one that's threats, one that's points, and a third he could remember.

This sounds like a Wave Kit, not a Launch Party Kit.

I can confirm the above and add some more info. We have placed a group order with our local store of over $1000 for core sets and conversion kits but no dials and dice. The store looked into getting the kit for us but the distributor said you need do order something like 30 of each dials and dice on top of all other things to get the Launch Party kit.

Personal opinion, I don't know if that was FFGs intent or added by the distributors, but ordering more than $1000 of merchandise and still ask you for more is the least to say a fraudulent practice. If this is FFG's decision shame on you, but if the distributors make these demands then FFG should step in ASAP.

Been hearing this in another thread too and a local store.

Yeah they should rename it to Maneuver Dial Launch Party.

Also, seems typical of Alliance.

Seriously, **** Diamond/Alliance.

Diamond/Alliance?

Some extra context: We are hearing in Canada that the requirement was just one set of launch event cards per case of core sets. So sounds like it must be distributor thing in the US?

Talked to the owner of my nearest FLGS over the weekend and he told me he couldn't get a kit because he didn't order enough dials or dice. Plenty of cores and conversion but nit the other items.

So, just my additional 2 cents of confirmation.

Oh, this is definitely Alliance screwing smaller stores. Thank god X-wing isn't a game where sets go out of print and become rare, because they would hold back stock in order to sell you stuff that doesn't sell.

I don't want to support such practices by the distributor, but my FLGS is kind of caught in the middle, so I think I'll buy some dial covers just to say, "Thanks for jumping through their hoops so we could get cool alt art cards." I'll need at least two for Imperials because I'm a fan of 5-ship squads, but maybe I'll pick up a third as I keep my eye on the horizon for Epic 2.0.

I second the suggestion that FFG needs to step in. All parties involved are going to make money, there's no need for the distributors to pull this bs.

What specifically is in this kit?

Three events : Flight Training quiz, Quick Build Battle, and Squad Builder Startup...alt cards for prizes
