Somebody tell that to GW and the stores in my area that are doing very brisk business with AoS. In fairness, I'm under the impression that they've relatively recently had a sort of 2.0 moment with many early concerns about the game experience and miniatures being handled.
That said, the last several months have been very good for Armada in my opinion, with many players looking for alternatives to X-Wing while waiting for the new edition. The changes there and the introduction of the SSD (as well as the wonderful success of Wave 7 for making iconic ships like the ISD and the MC series good again) has given players a lot of exciting choices and we've seen existing players with more excitement to show up and new players checking out the local game nights to see what we're all about.
