Came across these on eBay. I think I might go this route to fill in for the ships I need beyond what's in one conversion kit. Need to figure out if I can get a deal on shipping, but probably better than spending another $100 for a second conversion kit for the two factions I play. What are others thoughts?

I would not be surprised if we saw many Ebay sellers do this. It's going to be profitable but probably not consumer friendly. The issue has always been that the limited supply of high demand ships will drive the price up. This seller looks to be more or less reasonable with the $5-6 for X-wing and TIE. These may go up so I would get what you can now. The good news is that if you're looking for less demanded and oversupplied ships, you should find these very cheap due to the surplus.
I suppose the question is at what point does the cost of one ship conversion become too much? For instance, do you pay $10 (a 5th of the cost of the entire pack) for one ship?
Yeah, it really does come down to where is the breaking point where you just get a second conversion kit. I think for my rebel faction, I'm probably needing 3-4 extras, and 5-6 for Empire. That works out to probably about $10-15 for Rebel and $20-25 for Empire, so I still think it's probably the best option. Could wait until after release to see if there is a flood on eBay at that point, but not sure if that's going to make price cheaper. May just become more expensive for the ships everyone's looking for.

if all you have is one T-65, yes. I would in a hot minute.
Edited by papy72Once 2.0 is officially out you will probably see a ton of piecemeal conversion kit items for sale. I'll be looking to buy a few to fill in the blanks myself and/or trade off my own extras for some of the ship models I still don't own.
I've currently got one of each conversion kit from gencon but I'll be picking up at one more rebel and imperial kit, then I'll mostly just have a few extra A-wings to grab and a couple loose ends from not doubling up on another scum conversion. Not really looking to kit out all nine of my interceptors or a-wings though, just the 5-6 that might realistically get used.

Agreed. I was sorely tempted by what was offered before I saw the $6 in shipping and $2 extra shipping for each additional order. I’m going to to wait and see how the after-market shakes out.
I'd advise holding off on any investment until you know what your local scene is going to be doing. I can't imagine any spam list besides a TIE swarm is going to require 2 or more of the same faction kit, and FLGSs (definitely my own) can be lenient on spam list players by allowing proxies of duplicate ships.
Epic play (currently just 201+point games) doesn't need anything besides a proxy either, and I doubt anybody in a League is going to kick up a fuss about your placeholders for that 7th and 8th TIE you don't actually have.

I saw the same $6/$2 shipping you mentioned, but there was a line somewhere in the description that said he would quote for larger orders. I sent him a note on the items I needed for both Rebel and Empire, which was 12 items total. He replied and brought the shipping down a fair bit, so that part wasn't as painful. Still deciding on buying here before launch vs. waiting for after launch to see where prices go. My concern is that there will be tons of ships that everyone has extra and is trying to unload super cheap, but the one's that everyone wants (TIE/ln, X-Wing, A-Wing, TIE Bomber) will be much harder to get, and the prices here prior to launch might be the best option.
Ending up buying what I needed here so don't have to get a second conversion kit. He brought the shipping down to a little less than $2/item, so I thought that was a decent deal.
I'm hoping to trade people stuff from what I don't need from my conversion kits. There are a decent number of ships that I only had 1 of, but still need a number of other dials for ships. I mean, I still have my 6th Tie Bomber in the blister, but I might use it one day!
I went ahead and picked up the T-65 bits I needed (went with Wedge) from him.
I'd also wait to see what your locals are doing ito trading
