I would like to try this, but I only have 3....and only 3 come in the conversion kit. I don't really want to buy ANOTHER conversion kit for it. I'll probably have to change out 2 of them for something else. Any suggestions?

Palob (38) + Moldy Crow (12)

Kaa'to Leeachos (29)

With 3 Cartel Marauders, it leaves you one point left over and Palob and Kaa'to have nice synergy.

Agreed. I think same ship swarms, while may be good, will be rarer until their respective rerelease because of the conversion model. I personally have 0 interest in anything I can’t build with the conversion contents with maybe a +1 assuming third parties can gain you a one ship score. The ones you’re going to want though are likely going to be the ones everyone else wants leading to black friday levels of availability stupidity. Meanwhile anyone parting out conversion kits will be stuck with a good pile of winter fire starters as no one will want extras of those. Epic would change this but we all know what ffg thinks of epic. I think the one complaint I have about the conversion kits is the distribution of material.

@Smutpedler brought up a good point too and I can’t fault his logic. The shipless upgrade path may very well not come with dials so conversions may very well be the ONLY way to dial your 1.0 models. Or you fork over $20+ for the whole new model in which case the shipless upgrade path is pointless if you needed that extra dial.

Casually, just use the 1.0 dial and base.

Come on, you know Jim won't be able to stick to casual for Second Edition. He's totally going to go to tournaments to see just how balanced this new beast is, right, @heychadwick ?

Pros:

- Not 1.0

- No cancer in the game

- Punisher is one of the better ships. Not just one of the better bombers, because it is actually THE BEST bomber, but overall, it is a very powerful ship.

- Imps got some love.

- Turrets nerfed

- Overall, I like pretty much every game play change.

The cons:

- The designers didn't really get better at design.

- Several promises were underdelivered.

- FFG is still bantha poodoo in communication. There are major questions about 2.0 that have not been answered to this day, and their communications about the conversion kits also leave some things to be desired.

- Their balancing strategy remains to be seen, which is a pretty major part of the whole 2.0 experience, and a huge selling point over 1.0. Their willingness to issue errata and points adjustments UNBIASED is not yet proven.

First, the design is better, there is now more flexibility in point costs, the ability to squad building mechanics and the game has gone from a super-modded game to once again a game where flying, maneuvers and strength of a build will reign supreme.

Second, the official release date is September 13th, I’d bet Davy, Brooks and Brooke will do everything the can support ed by FFG to deliver on those “promises”. If they don’t then we can start to complain and it’d be justified but can we at least make it to Christmas before doom and gloom?

Im glad you have a better grasp of the content, development, space within, and actual design. I’m sure they’re bias is so overwhelming that the want that basis to prevail over, they’re actual vision and goal for the game. After all this is their career and the earn paychecks based on their ideas.

No! Don't do it! You'll dilute the brand!! You have to stay the King of Kasual!!!

Ehm. There are things we know now. I say what I say based on the available information. Based on that information, some of the things they've stated does not seem correct. Whenever they will correct these things, I will stop with all the gloom and doom. Definitely not before then. FFG isn't my buddy... FFG is a business partner, and I pay them money to deliver on the promises.

Their bias haven't stopped them from ruining the game before. They their earned paychecks just fine.

And if you are going to sass me on my ability to understand stuff, maybe try and be legible next time.

Played a few games of 2.0. I am just sticking to unnamed pilots right now and trying to get the feel of each ship. I am a Rebel player so I can only comment mostly on them.

- A-wings are very good. Been using a phoenix as a filler with cluster missiles

- B-wings are ok...I have found they do not need many upgrades. Keep them cheap, because they still blow up fast.

- Z95's with a missile of your choice is a good cheap threat

- Fielding Inferno Squad with Howlrunner is very good.....

- X-wings pretty much function as they do now with S-foils (minus Flight assist)

- HWK with title...maybe the best improvement for rebel ships in general

- Rules are less muddy.

- Ordinance feels right to me now

- Bombs w/trajectory will still be a pain to deal with

- More emphasis on flying and turn 0 in particular...you will pay if you make a bad decision. No more combo-ing out of it (looking at you Imp aces).

Been sticking to small bases for the most part. Going to throw down some medium bases this week and get a feel for the ARC, K-wing, and U-Wing.

never seen an expensive fat Turret worth its points.

The only thing I do agree with is fat turrets don't quite earn their money

Well, I'm sold! (Seriously, not a fan of the whole Fat Turret concept.)

Slightly reduced power level overall means it's easier to have fun without needing nutso combos, and generics are good. Repositioning is critical for aces. Balancing is still up for debate - looks like fat turrets are a little weak at the moment. Aside from game quality, the meta is unmistakeably different from 1.0, which means new challenges and fun. I've enjoyed my 2.0 games so far.

@Darth Meanie @Parakitor

I don't think there are enough tournament oriented podcasts out there. Maybe I should switch?
