Escape Shuttle seems really nice for swarms. Anyone seen its dial though?

By Wazat, in X-Wing

The preview article shows a dial but it appears to be the YT-1300's. Has anyone seen a spoiled dial for the Escape Shuttle?

Looking at the points, even the most expensive Escape Shuttle is only 3 points more than the cheapest TIE Fighter or Z-95 (26,24,22,12 vs 23). It has Z-95 base stats for that cost, so I'm guessing its dial will make the first edition Lambda feel good about itself. ;) Even though all the pilots are unique, seems it'd be decent to add 3 to a fleet for a cheap swarm with good pilot abilities and slots (Outer Rim Pioneer's ability, for example, is nice in a swarm). Could even toss in the 12-point flying bomb to flank from the other side of the table if you feel like being derpy.

Big problem is in reality, that's spending a lot of money buying 3 or 4 Lando expansions for mere swarmers. ;) Though you could borrow from friends.

It can't kturn or sloop or roll etc, making it garbage for any sort of dedicated combat role

It's a coordinate bot, basically. Wouldn't ever use more than 1

Put Boba on a flying bomb for a cheap little kamikaze bot, and even that's not great. Not many real combat uses for it, and there shouldn't be. It's an escape pod.

Okay, the limited turning ability definitely matters, and that makes sense given the cost.

Nonetheless, I wonder if someone will find a way to abuse its low cost. ^_^

I mean, the fact that it has coordinate puts it far above a Z, personally

Would try putting one in a list, at least

Actually the flying bomb has no upgrade slots (and no ship ability; it's quite unique). I think a lot of people instantly thought of that, but FFG says nope.

For the other pilots, I do think the crew, elite, coordinate, and low cost give it some great uses as a support. Having one in a fleet is definitely effective. But when I see a curiosity like this I look for edges to claw at to find some crazy backdoor. :P

Darn. Would have been a great way to mess up a TIE swarm on turn 3.

I guess some of them would be good in a swarm but they are all unique so no all escape pod swarms (and that would be quite expensive IRL).

They may be good in mixed swarms because of the Coordinate action. They move fairly predictably as well but that's maybe not an issue if you're holding to a formation.

They could be useful alongside the Scum TIEs, to allow them to shoot as well as ignoring movement with obstacles.

Since nobody else specifically commented on this, the dial in the article is in fact the Escape Shuttle's. The YT-1300 has the same dial as the Rebel counterpart.

Oh, so that means it does have a k-turn. That makes it much better.

Its only hard turn is red and its max speed is 3, but even then it's still pretty viable.

That was a glitch in YASB 2.0 that should have been fixed by now. The autopiloted one has no upgrade slots.

Might help with dial questions. Button between the arrow buttons swaps to the dial for the craft you're looking at.: http://www.infinitearenas.com/xw2browse/#

slightly better. The scum 1300 has a blue 3-straight and the rebel 3 straight is white. must be the wear and tear. Can't wait to see how bad the resistance one is!

? Where have you seen the the Rebel and Scum YT-1300 dials are different? All the images I've seen show the as the same.
