When do pre-orders from FFG typically ship?

By PaulRuddSays, in X-Wing

Title says it all - my pre-order for the damage deck (aka core set) is still listed as pending, and I’m curious when one might expect it to ship. Any recent experience from Legion or other launches we can use to estimate shipping, or whether you typically receive it on launch day? I’m planning to grab all the conversion kits from the flgs at launch, but it’d be nice to have the core, too...

I’m still pretty full of hype, not least because some of my locals picked up copies at Gen Con, and I’m looking forward to play with my own components soon!

I have received preorders the day before the official release, though I do live ~4 hours from the twin cities...

Negative 4 hours?? Does that mean you're to the west, or that you live in a black hole??

~ means 'approximately'.

"~ " is called a tilde:

Common use [ edit ]

This symbol (in English) informally [4] means "approximately" , "about", or "around", such as "~30 minutes before", meaning " approximately 30 minutes before". [5] [6] It can mean "similar to", [7] including "of the same order of magnitude as", [4] such as: " x ~ y " meaning that x and y are of the same order of magnitude . Another approximation symbol is the double-tilde , meaning "approximately equal to", [5] [7] [8] the critical difference being the subjective level of accuracy: ≈ indicates a value which can be considered functionally equivalent for a calculation within an acceptable degree of error, whereas ~ is usually used to indicate a larger, possibly significant, degree of error [ citation needed ] . The tilde is also used to indicate "equal to" or "approximately equal to" by placing it over the "=" symbol, like so: .

A. Technically, I do know that and thought it was a typo.

B. Now, with contacts out I see it was a tilde the whole time.

C. Apparently I can't c. Being 50 is hard.

Looks like a dash to me. Though - and ~ are both flat in my browser apparently.

In another aspect, do you get notified when it ships? Or, does it just show up when it shows up? I assume you get a tracking number at some point...
