Spy Tips

By Mogloth, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Greetings all.

I have a spy in a friends long running Star Wars game set in an alternate universe where Palpatine is dead and Vader is Emperor. Vader used the Death Star to dissolve the Senate. Literally. Along with the rest of Coruscant. Vader is brutal. I am a slicer mainly. I have bought into the infiltrator tree. And I believe I will get into the Sleeper Agent tree as well.

Now that I have the long awaited Cyphers and Masks book, I would like to ask everyone here for some tips to get more out of my class. I'm not looking for game mechanic type stuff. More role playing stuff.

I seem to fall short on thinking about cool spy stuff.

What are some good ways to gain entry into a secure building? I sometimes cannot think of cool things as far as info to gain from a system when rolling a triumph on a computers check.

Basically I'm asking for ideas and tips to really bring my spy to life.

Besides finding entry points into the building all sneaky like? Hmm, with a sleeper agent, a triumph could mean you have the credentials of someone very important, so that you could impersonate them getting in. Make your own credentials and look like a person of authority that no one would dare question as you walk in. Get some good dirt on someone that could be used to pressure them into doing something, at least for a while. Clean stuff that could blow your cover.

Get cameras to re-roll a section of the recording so that nobody's gonna see anyone break in for a while. Jam a door permanently, claim you are maintenance, have the details set up through slicing.

Trip the fire system and go in as firefighters. Extra points if you somehow actually start a fire.

That's some of the ways I can think of trying to gain entry.

Watch Burn Notice, all of your questions will be answered

Zipline from another building.

Burrow in from a retired sewer line.

Ship yourself in a delivery crate.

Loudly claim to be from the phone repair company as you storm through the lobby.

Seduce the chief of maintenance and gain some "after hours" entry.

Remember that real spy work is boring. What you likely want to do is more cinematic action-spy, so I'd suggest Mission Impossible movies or even XXX (Vin Diesel, not porn).

Surveil people who have access, follow them, learn their vices, document them, and then blackmail them with it to flip them as informants.

Kidnap people close to important people and use that as leverage to gain access.

Kidnap droids that might have info and then wipe their memory of the kidnapping, worked for Cad Bane.

Gaining entry to any system where you want to get in you'll always want maintenance logs and any delivery schedules.

Or the first few seasons of Archer if you are in to that brand of humor.

I'm currently running a K-2SOesque PC, infiltrating an enemy ship. When he triggered an alarm, he critiqued the response team, informing them he was conducting a "security audit."

Other factors are contributing to the probable failure of this ruse, but it seemed more interesting than immediately attacking.
