List for final 1.0 tournament

By GreenDragoon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have two lists to choose from. I can play them reasonably well I think.
The meta includes some NymMiranda players, some GhostFenn, some XXXXZ, some lists with BSF and Nym. In short: plenty PS10, bombs and TLT.

The two lists are my MixAlpha v4 with QD/Inq/Rho (played 100+ games with) or Andrew Bunn's Inq/Ryad/SBP (1 game...).

MixAlpha at 99pts:

"Quickdraw" (29)
Expertise (4)
Fire-Control System (2)
Sensor Cluster (2)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)

Rho Squadron Veteran (21)
Deadeye (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Packs a punch! Can handle both NymMiranda and GhostFenn. The meta did not change that much since March, and this list went pretty well back then. Inq can handle the turrets, QD will deal a ton of damage before inevitably dying off. The key is the Rho: I think I have never lost a game where I shot two Harpoons, and definitely not if I shot more than two. But taking down the 7hp behind 2agility takes time, and QD will punish that.

Bunn's list

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)

Countess Ryad (34)
Lone Wolf (2)
Multi-spectral Camouflage (1)
TIE/x7 (-2)

Scarif Base Pilot (22)
Emperor Palpatine (8)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Advanced Ailerons (0)

Total: 98

Inq again pretty resilient, but this time even supported by Palp. Ryad with LW is also very tough. And the SBP stays out of the fight until it doesn't. It's fun to play and clearly a strong list. As additional benefit, there are 3 videos of Bunn playing the list, one against NymMiranda . It's clear that Inq does well against the TLTs

Which one to pick? I like playing both. The latter is probably the better list. SBP gives some great options, from jamming to blocking to staying out of the fight for palp to a 3dice primary or soaking up shots.

Second list seems like it bleeds less MOV, which is what I would want in a store tournament.

I kinda want to say QD + Inq from List 1, but toss in a Scarif Base Pilot with ISB Slicer, Courier Droid, AA, and LWF . Same 26 points, but gets you in on that tasty jamming action. I kinda feel like Deadeye alpha strikes are themselves pretty vulnerable to Jam, and I'd rather step away from it.

I'm kinda mixed on Sensor Cluster, too. I haven't flown nearly as many games with SenC on LWF SFs, but I've flown a few, and it never seemed like it mattered. I always felt like I tended to roll enough eyes to be able to efficiently spend my focus token on defense. Personally, I'd much rather have Pattern Analyzer, so I can take a focus if I ever need to S-Loop or 1 Hard or such.

I think it is the better list, partially because of the MoV. It‘s also a more patient list. The main reason I‘m hesitating comes from me being relatively bad at flying defenders. I‘m thinking about switching to PTL for Ryad to counter my shortcomings with her. LW is clearly better, but selecting the 3+move and staying out of range of my other ships requires some additional foresight that I‘m not yet used to.

I agree in principle. But it looks like there are barely any reapers being played here. Last store champs did not have a single one. As such it looks like a risk that could be taken.

As for sensor cluster... that‘s a long debate and sc kept me in the game in some crucial moments. I‘m happy with the choice.

All makes sense. Half the time, I reply to these things to learn about the lists myself by thinking about them, as much as advise someone else.

When I flew some SenC SFs, they were Accuracy Corrector Zetas. They're similarly focus-independent to Quickdraw, but they aren't as shield-dependent. A single shield can make or break a game with QD. I know I spent 15 minutes running away from a 1-shield QD on R2-D2 Poe, since the only thing I was threatened by was two attacks in a single round. AccC Zetas are fun, but they really don't to fill the Tech slot at all.

Anyhow, in that case, fly QD unless you're burned out on that list. End 1e with friends, rather than chasing after something with unfamiliar lists, even if they're better. Unless they're super fun and you just can't resist.
