[2e] Boba Fett + Palob + ???

By Gausebeck, in X-Wing Squad Lists

For Scum in 2e, I’m really liking Fett (as is everyone else), and I’ve always had fun with Palob and he seems quite good in 2e with the right build. However, after building each of them the way I’d like, there are 49 points left and I can’t find anything I’m excited to spend them on. These are the Boba and Palob builds I’ve been thinking of:

Boba Fett (80)
Fearless (3)
0-0-0 (3)
Marauder (3)
Han Solo (Scum) (4)

Palob Godalhi (38)
Lando Calrissian (Scum) (8)
Moldy Crow (12)

The best I’ve come up with is to drop Lando and 0-0-0 to fit Old Teroch:

Boba Fett (80)
Fearless (3)
Marauder (3)
Han Solo (Scum) (4)

Palob Godalhi (38)
Trick Shot (1)
Moldy Crow (12)

Old Teroch (56)
Fearless (3)

Total: 200

It’s a lot of token denial between Palob and Old Teroch, and all of the ships have strong passive mods as well. Two brawlers like Fett and OT should hopefully keep the heat off Palob, and it’s nice that they’re both at I5.

I’m not sure how much Palob is hurt by losing Lando, though, and it’s a shame to miss out on 0-0-0 or another of the great scum crew.

Any thoughts on that list or other possible wingmen?

How about Graz + Outmaneuver for 53 points. It would mean no Lando but would leave 4 points over, maybe Chewbacca to spend focus to fix crits would be a good fit for Palob?

I'd go for something control and keep it to max 49p as those crew are well worth it.

Ion cannon M3 leaves points for anti-swarm bombs.

Ion cannon turret Drea also buffs the attacks of Boba and Palob.

Drea only works on non-uniques

Palob is fine without Lando.

Old teroch is a nice choice. Talonbane or Graz could be another good choice to just stay by Palob.

Palob Godalhi (38)
Trick Shot (1)
L3-37 (4)
Moldy Crow (12)

Boba Fett (80)
Trick Shot (1)
0-0-0 (3)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Marauder (3)
Han Solo (Scum) (4)

Talonbane Cobra (50)
Fearless (3)

If you use Old Teroch & Palob on the same target, there will be no green token left to discard after Palob steals it. So he needs to pair with Boba to make use of his ability. Maybe that's what you intended?

Talonbane seems difficult without Afterburners?

My bad about Drea.

Escape craft or a control choice gets my vote. Helps both Boba & Palob. But since both already get fully modded shots I'd go for control (Ion or stress).

I keep thinking about Engine Upgrade on HWKs (particularly Moldy Crow, since they'll have a focus token stack and kind of have an action to spare). 3 points to turn that red Boost white seems like a decent price. It'd make turning around a lot easier.

I've gone for Elusive/L3-37 combo on Palob. I'm not a fan of either of those upgrades in isolation but I think there's a synergetic tripod with Palob.

Elusive - Palob has good reds he wants to use, and with multiple Focus tokens he both doesn't have many dice he needs to reroll and is only looking for eyeballs when he does reroll.

L3-37 - stealing focus tokens from attackers means that you can save L3 for when they roll triple natties and then make them reroll it and without focus there's a good chance they will come back with a worse roll, plus turning your banks greens combos with Elusive to clear the stress your red moves give you.

The idea with Old Teroch and Palob is that they would target different ships and cast a wider net of token-stripping; I realize they're redundant against the same ship. For example, it would be great to strip focus tokens from two different barrage bombers.

I forgot that Talonbane is a budget option now -- that's interesting. But I agree that he seems like he needs Afterburners to be effective and then his cost starts going back up.

For escape craft or control -- why not both? :)

Boba Fett (80)

Marauder (3)
Han Solo (Scum) (4)

I'm not sure how well the list hangs together, but it definitely has a lot of tools. I'm coming around to the idea that Palob can get away without Lando crew which definitely gives more options, but I still need to try it that way on the table.

Playing with Palob, Boba and Kavil with either Ion turret or Dorsal and R4, I feel like they need a flanker instead.

Whilst Boba can certainly flank, he is a bit too much of a threat to let flank you, so they will likely turn towards him.

Not being much of a scum player, what is a good flanking option around that 50 point mark? A fang seems like a reasonable option...but can only bring the cheapest

Serissu w/ juke has caught my eye, but not as big a threat as I would like.

This is what I am running right now and I really like the list. Boba often plays the role of a flanker, but this is alright, because overall I think it might even be Palob, who deals the most damage. Palob is such a crazy ship. He is so annoying for the opponent and - especially with Serissu close by - so hard to kill. His double-modded shots do really hurt alot.

Yeah, Palob is the anvil that your other ships are pushing people into.

Moldy Crow needs a price increase.

You are all doing it wrong. The correct answer for "scum filler ship" is and always shall be QUADJUMPER

Fearless Boba w/ 0-0-0 & BT-1 + Moldy Squad Leader Palob w/ Lando + Quadjumper = literally the first list I flew in 2e and it was just so much fun you guys

No your doing it all wrong the quadjumper isn't a filler ship! It's a main ship and these point boat ships are the fillers. This is how a squad should be made step 1 - build your quadjumper(s) step 2 with the rest of you points put Boba and Pablo in ?
