If the Resistance was added who would buy them?

By Animewarsdude, in Star Wars: Legion

I think the new trilogy ship design was pretty solid all round, but troopers are all very similar, and the characters are all a bit weak and lack training or any kind of competance wich exception of Chewy, but they cant take credit for.

Kylo started out as quite fascinating at the start of TFA, but then it became clearer he is not great swordsman, weaker than Ray who again doesnt have many skills apart from the inexplicable evolution of her powers by end of TLJ...

I'll stop now I can feel my comments quickly devolving into my distaste for many character and story arc decisions made in the new trilogy.

I might depending on what is available. All we've seen in the movies are some troopers and those **** speeders as far as Resistance ground combat goes.

I don't really want to play devils advocate here, but at least in TFA, Kylo was shot by a bowcaster before fighting Rey. Also Rey has some combat experience since she was practically left to fend for herself on Jakku.

Regardless of whether people like the ST films or not, lets try to keep the discussion to them as a faction for Legion, and interest or a lack of interest in buying them.

I don't think they are distinct enough to warrant separate factions. The only thing going for them is commanders.

That said, I wouldn't mind a mini of snoke in his pimpin pajamas.

Snoke has keyword: Unencumbered. This figure never has its speed reduced due to difficult terrain

the First Order definitely would be, as they would be more geared toward short range. The resistance on the other hand not only isn't different enough, but also doesn't have enough units for a fleshed out faction.

I would gladly buy both Resistance and First Order.

I do admit that the Resistance needs some fleshing out, before they show up.

I am a fan of both the sequel and original trilogy. The Clone Wars series as well as the visuals of the prequels.

I would have liked to start with Clones and was debating to paint my Imperials in clone war era armor colors. I have very little interest in a droid army, same goes for first order, but I might get resistance. As others mentioned, I would have liked to get my Imperials more fleshed out before a new faction comes out.

I’m happily committed to buying and painting at least one of everything that is released for this game, plus extras of whatever makes sense for gaming purposes.

As for sequel trilogy stuff in general, I’m one of those mad lads who regards all three trilogies—and both the old Expanded Universe and the new Canon continuity—with real fondness (Crazy, I know!). I’ll always love the OT best because it’s what I grew up with, but the Prequels and Sequels are loads of fun too, in their own distinct ways.

The real question is who would buy sequels over prequels?

A strawpoll I did a while back showed people wanted first and foremost prequels, then shortly behind that scum, then way behind in the dust was sequels

The Resistance doesn't currently have a Legion, they just have the crew of the Falcon.

Just remember to post images of your stuff to show it off! :)

On the plus side, that means that they would be the cheapest faction to buy into, though I wonder if a low activation list would be viable at competitive.

I would. Id prefer OT scum or other factions first though

I think Episode 9 will have a ground battle on Yavin 4 which might give them enough to work with for Resistance in the game.

First Order Stormtroopers, Phasma and FN-2199 would work for the game really well though.

No, with the reused themes in TFA and TLJ that means that Episode 9 needs a cute native force to defeat the FO. And Ewoks are teddy bears, which are sort of like puppets, and what does Disney own? Muppets! Army of Kermit the Frogs confirmed for Legion!

The Resistance's first commander post-Episode 9

I think that the ST offers some really cool character options for legion. Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn, Hux, BB8... I would so love to paint all of them, especially kylo ren. Which also makes me realize how much I hope they release some alt models with different outfits.

If and when they make their way to Legion, I hope we get a hooded, helmet wearing Kylo Ren. Just my opinion. Also wished we would have gotten an ESB Han Solo so we could have re-painted a TFA Han.

Wherein "Han Solo" is a variable meaning "everyone".

The resistance was terribly small and undermanned. Id hate to play with the same 12 figures and be 500pts short every game. I would have the iniative though?

Well, it would be easier to paint your army. :P

It would be interesting to see the mix of forces we get if and when the Sequel Trilogy comes to Legion. FFG has been very good with the inclusion of alien species and female forces with Imperial Assault. I know we have gotten a couple of females and a Duros, a Mon Calamari and a Dresselian so far, but the Resistance seems much more "rag-tag" compared to the Rebellion and hopefully we see alot more alien species in the mix. Maybe even a female or alien squad leader or named Commander. (not generic)

So I know this was a Resistance specific question, but it seems to branch out a bit into Sequel Trilogy's position in Legion.

I've always stated that my plan will be to play Imperials until First Order launches, at which point I'll build a second army. However, it has always made way more sense to go Prequel trilogy first when expanding the armies in the game, because Sequel simply isn't fleshed out enough yet.

We are getting more stuff, and I think the 9th movie will expand further. The new television show (Star Wars: Resistance) should flesh out a bit more of the Resistance, which I think is the faction that is the least distinct. FO Stormtroopers definitely look similar to OT Troopers, but they have some distinctive characteristics. We've seen other neat troops beyond that that have no OT counterpart, so FO could have a very unique flavour.

Both factions definitely have enough named commanders. FO we can go Kylo, Phasma, Hux. Resistance we can go Rey, Finn, Poe. Boom, that gets us started.

I think both factions will appear eventually, but need another movie to give us enough material to really justify their existence. The biggest challenge is that the two movies (TFA and TLJ) happen back-to-back as opposed to several years apart like previous trilogies, so we essentially see the same characters / battle / gear.
