I really wish they had chosen better nomenclature for the initiative 2 generic X-Wing and B-Wing than "Blue Squadron Escort" and "Blue Squadron Pilot". It has led to minor confusion when playing both in the same list. Especially because they're both presumably pilots unless "Escort" refers to a side job about providing company to lonely singles, although that would make sense because that X-Wing does spend a lot of time with her S-Foils open...not that I'm judging of course.
Odd point of confusion
They seem distinct enough to me.
I ran Red Squadron Pilots (T-65) with Red Squadron Veterans (T-70) in a list in 1e, and it didn't feel like a problem.
I'm not sure I see where the window for confusion happens - if you're looking at the board, one has an X-Wing model on it and one has a B-Wing; and if you're looking for the relevant pilot card to check upgrades/shields/whatever, just look for the one with corresponding ship in the artwork.
Between that and all ships now requiring the number tokens be part of the base so target locks work, I don't see why you wouldn't just be comparing the number values anyway.
Could you maybe give a more explicit example of what was confusing?
I'm with the OP. Not so much that there's confusion, but that it feels weird to differentiate between two things by using names that don't actually denote being a different thing.
“Blue Squadron Streetwalker”
”Blue Squadron Presidential Blackmailer”
Blue Squadron had B-Wings, U-Wings, X-Wings, and Y-Wings.
Without giving each pilot a unique call sign, is there a way to clearly distinguish generic pilots for each?

Blue B, Blue X, Blue Y, and Blue U.
OK, maybe not the last one.

Blue Squadron B-Wing Pilot
Blue Squadron U-Wing U-Winger
Blue Squadron Y-Wing Bomber
Blue Squadron X-Wing Escort
Indeed.
Should have stuck with Rookiee Pilot.
