Specialist Leader in a squad

By Thalandar, in Army Building

So from what i see by the artwork released, adding an officer to a squad does not make that squad a command squad....right?

What is a command squad? Where is that concept in the rules?

I suppose the question is whether adding an officer changes the rank of a unit from core (or whatever rank that unit had) to commander.

There is nothing by now that indicates that. A Stormtrooper with an imperial stormtrooper officer for example would still be core.

Page 47, paragraphs 2 to 5, Astra Militarum Codex.

Command squads aren't a thing in Legion (so far anyway, and outside of special scenarios).

Well, I mean after your commander dies you nominate a unit leader to become the commander, but you can't buy a unit to be the commander according to any of the previews.

If you add the upcoming officers to a squad, they become the unit leader, but the unit does not change types, so adding an Imperial Officer to a Stormtrooper squad means you have a Corps unit led by an Imperial Officer.

Yes. Operative words being (and understanding the difference between) “leader” vs “commander.”
