WFRP 1e, The Enemy Within rules question

By Lexicanum, in WFRP Rules Questions

I've been reading The Enemy Within campaign, however there's one part of the Mistaken Identity adventure that has me stumbled. In several places it says "1xS2 hits", "1xS3 hits" or "1xS5 hits". What exactly does that even mean? I've looked through the core rules and through the TEW's first book to no avail.

I'm currently thinking it means 1xD6 + Strength X where X is the number given. So 1xS2 is D6+Strength 2, yield 3-8 wounds.

Anyways, this is really baffling and maybe a veteran of WFRP could answer this.

Yeah, that's what is means. Although sometimes the damage die explodes.

I'm finding it much easier to ignore the stats as written for TEW and substitute in 3e stats entirely than trying to accurately convert NPC stats and whatnot. Its good to have a general idea as a guideline of how nasty things were in 1e, but it'll drive you nuts trying to recreate it all.

Yeah, that's the conclusion I'm coming to as well, but I did want to get an idea of the expected "injury level" for certain events. If only to get an idea for what the author's intent was for each event.

Thanks Monkeylite for the clarification.
