I got a great deal on a Night Caller kitbash!

By weisguy119, in X-Wing Epic Play

I inquired about a commission from the creator, White Metal Games, and they instead contacted the original buyer who was interested in selling. I plan to design a custom scenario where this will be a cloaking Night Caller/Vorknkx hybrid pocket carrier under the command of Admiral Zaarin. I already have an Arquitens for Thrawn, so this will be my alternate universe version of the TIE Fighter video game.

Great! "THAT" TIE fighter game? Oh, my! That was a good game with a great story to it (and I still play with it from time to time). The "Rebels" TV show destroyed all the good story about the TIE Defender and the rest. I always have asked myself why Timothy Zahn was not given the task of make two or three novels from the game. Two Grand Admirals, and Vader, the Emperor and the rebels in the middle!

I would like to see this battle of yours! Congratulations!

Pretty sure that is the Farstar , only with symmetrical bays. Night Caller was supposed to be identical to the standard CR90, despite the hanger in the bow. (As described Night Caller would have to be about the same size as a nebulon-b to fit said hanger, but inconsistent size was a common issue in the old EU.)

I hadn't read the book before buying the ship. I just thought the ship looked cool and that's what they called it. I'm reading the book now and, yeah, it's not built to the description in the novel. No worries, though, it still looks cool. I plan to use it for an Admiral Zaarin custom scenario (my interpretation of the Zaarin insurrection). In this alternate universe, he escapes the Vorknkx before it explodes and goes on to create this cloaking pocket carrier. It'll house 4 TIE Avengers.

honestly a symmetrical Farstar style works much better visually and conceptually as a "carrier CR90" than the Night Caller ever would have.

though i have to say that i rather liked the SW:Rebels solution to the idea of a CR90 carrying fighters.
