Thoughts on the "Juyo Berzerker"?

By sithlord78, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Has anyone gotten to play this yet? It mostly looks like you would need to constantly be doing good deeds to offset the conflict from "Embrace your Hate".

I won't get to play it for a while but I'm dying to play the combo: Curved Lightsaber Hilt + Juyo Savagery. It's a scene out of "Kill Bill" just waiting to happen.

Anyone have experience with this specialization?

I'm not sure I would bother trying to offset Conflict. Embrace Your Hate is the name of a talent, but it's also the theme of the style (unless you're one of those Vaapad poseurs) so ride the Conflict slide with gusto.

Oh well...call me provincial but I like to think I'm in an RPG to be a hero and I like being a good guy. So yeah I'm a Vaapad poseur. ?

I think trying to walk the line of balance would be a worthy challenge.

Says the guy named sithlord78. :P

Nothing wrong with looking like a bad guy but being a good guy underneath...

Emo-Sith? ?

Being Dark-Side is not the same as burning down orphanages left and right. You can still be sort of nice and a broody anti-hero kind of guy.

On a pbp here I'm playing a really high exp character that is using Juyo. Got a 159 crit on my 1st hit due to Makashi Finnish and Juyo Savagery.

One of my players is using it in a campaign I am running where the PCs are newly minted Inquisitors and the Aggressor/Juyo Berserker did better in the first fight than the Makashi Duelist did (they were fighting a Dianoga and neither is an aquatic species).I imagine in our next session the Juyo Berserker will drop like a stone and be the first to truely embrace the Dark Side.

Starting with extra DS Destiny Points just makes Embrace Your Hate stronger, and it also means it causes even more Conflict. The Juyo Berserker really isn't well designed for somebody that doesn't want to go dark side, even if they think Vaapad will save them.

I'm starting a new Clone Wars campaign on Monday, and one of my players has built a Juyo Beserker/Padawan Survivor. Originally he was planning on playing a Clone, but when I got Knights of Fate and he saw the tree, he immediately changed his character idea.

It's worth noting, if you get Inner Peace, and don't use Embrace Your Hate during a session, Inner Peace offsets the conflict auto-generated by having Embrace Your Hate. If you want to have Juyo and avoid going down the dark path, you just have to willingly avoid embracing your hatred. Sure, that robs you of a really strong power, but... Isn't that kind of the Jedi way?

I had a friend who said wow look at Magus thats sure to send you straight to the darkside.

I said "Hold my Beer meet Juyo berserker.."

Now imagine mixing the two!

Indeed the Juyo Berzerker is made for going darkside in a heartbeat. The thing is it's like taking a Ferrari to the drag races. Yeah it's fun but where's the challenge? I mean, sure, you can't always use "Embrace Your Hate" when you want but is it really worth the conflict to add on 5-10 damage?

The way I see it "Juyo Berzerker" is a lot more fun in the long game where you can do 1-hit kills on bosses, then turn around and say "And I didn't have to go Dark Side!"

Come on, the Corrupted Crystal is awesome, and whoever doesn't think red is the hot color in saber blades has no taste.

But to answer your question, yes, it is worth the conflict to add 5-10 extra damage on a hit. This is great for blowing through some uppity saber jockey's Parry. If you can also get a spec with Falling Avalanche (like Armorer), then so much the better.

Because of the way the Destiny pool is built, Embrace Your Hate ultimately gets stronger (in both Damage and Conflict) the more PCs there are in the party. If they all go dark side and start throwing in more DS points, then the power of EYH gets crazy.

My very first character is a berserker, but so far, conflict hasn't been too much of an issue. But if you're really worried about it, the two ranks in Inner Peace are a life saver.

But if you keep spamming EYH and Unmatched Ferocity, don't plan on ever using a Solari Crystal.

But yeah:

Savagery

+Lethal Blows

+ any Vicious crystal

dead things everywhere.
