What's the best house, and why is it Logos?

By Ishi Tonu, in KeyForge

Yeah I saw that too, but, I really don't want to get sucked into a "designer bias" conspiracy thread

I love conspiracy theories!

Clearly Logos is the faction to get :)

Neither would I. Just tought that was interesting. Now every designer is gonna have a fave faction (if their game has factions) It's just that when they start giving all the best stuff to that one faction that the trouble starts.

I think the good thing with Keyforge is that they seem to have built in some safety measures to be able to walk things back a bit if they realize, too late, they made a mistake. I fully expect to be playing my Logos decks with some amount of mandatory chains at some point. And then in future expansions you could always see houses shift certain mechanics to a small degree. Not so much as to make another house better at a theme that is not theirs, but enough that you could see a deck with two house that have maybe one stray Archive card get both of those cards in a deck along with another different house so you end up with a deck of 3 non-Logos houses that still has a serviceable amount of archiving, without the downside of playing the Logos creatures.

Suddenly I think it is Dis

L isten up, I'm

O nly

G oing to say this

O nce

S cience is where it's at.

This was my 3rd weekend with cards and the 3rd time I played. So, as you can see my experience is limited. The big difference this weekend was it was the first time I played without House Logos. I still had fun, but I can’t overstate how much I missed them. To make matters worse my opponent had House Logos and used them to great effect.

It is obvious that I will need to get used to life without Logos just so they won’t become a crutch for me. However, once I familiarize myself with all the houses it’s hard to imagine I won’t gravitate towards decks with Logos. I’m thinking Logos/Dis/+?. I haven’t played a deck with Logos and Dis yet, but I think they will fit my play style. I am leaning towards Untamed or Shadow for my 3rd house.

bah! that's 3 more plays than I have! :) When is this game comming out?! (Well don't come out to soon either, still playing AOS champions here!)

I got the same thing with Proffesor X in dicemasters (he lets you take back spent dice so you have more resources on your next turn. Another one where you'll notice the difference when you play without it.)

For a third house I'd be tempted to say Shadow. Seems very Blue/Black in Magic terms.

Logos & Dis: Daemon ex machina

AOS champions is surprisingly enjoyable

In my experience Shadows has the highest potential because of Bait and Switch and has a very consistent card pool, because so many cards do pretty similar things. So even without Bait and Switch Shadows often adds a lot to your deck.

Logos is a little bit worse, because even with combos that draw you a lot of cards it is hard to get a play that can rival a good placed Bait and Switch and your average pile of archive and draw won't have the same effect as your average pile of steal effects.

Dis is probably the most inconsistent house, because their creatures are pretty bad but if your deck can generate a lot of advantage without a board position (of creatures) or can setup an explosive turn and you get the power cards, it can be a vital part of your deck.

Untamed is also pretty inconsistent, because most cards are meh, but the Witches have an extremly high powerlevel, especially with archiving of Logos or Arise from Dis.

Brobnar is disapointing, because the house hard folds against strategies that work without board position (which are currently the best decks).

Sanctum also seems in a strange place, because their capture effects are bad and their creatures are understatted compared to Brobnar and Mars. But their events and artifacts are really good and simply getting 3 aember rocks.

Mars is also strange, because they have very strong creatures and events, but the cards feel so random and anti-synergistic.

Weird that archive shinanigans are being talked about and no mention of Untamed. Regrowth, Dust Pixie, Full Moon and Witch of the Eye together wrecked. But yes it's a very combo-y high setup situation.

But I feel that the pure advantage Dis brings with Dominator Baubles and other control/steal creature effects, together with disruptive discards, is so all-round good that I think Dis is probably the strongest house...
