More Galactic Civil War movies...

By Piratical Moustache, in Star Wars: Armada

I agree with @Norsehound

Adding new factions is cool and all, but I don't have faith in FFG to commit resources to put out an appropriate amount of product for both existing factions and new ones. **** it took them a year to announce the next 'wave' of content of a single 200$ expansion for a single faction. Honestly I play both sides so I don't mind too much considering Rebels have more variety and flexible ships.

While I agree, more movies = fun times... that hasnt proven true in the eyes of the worst group of people... the hardcore fans. I know people who dont consider anything outside of 4-6 canon. Except the 40 years worth of books that cover... what, 140 years of in-universe time? They refuse to accept anything from 2 or 3 (I'll give them 1. While I still enjoy parts of 1, I can give people their disliking of it.) ****, they refuse to accept rogue one, because no one is Bothans, no one is spies, and "darth vader shouldnt be making bad dad jokes."

Kill joy really.

I can understand why people dont like 7 or 8. I enjoy them, I have also read the novelizations. I can understand the want to pull people into the new movies without needing them to have to watch 4-6, because of cultural osmosis. I can understand not telling your troops a plan because I am in the army and understand op-sec.

And I want new, GCW movies... like a Kenobi movie. I could also go for more just, soldier war movies. Its called Star Wars, after all. But there is also things I dont want to see. And its shoe horning in random, new ship designs, just to be able to add them into merch games when you have so much variety already.

CW ships could come, and it would be fine and not be absolutely awful. SE (I hope we get a viable name rather than Sequals) could be done, if the ships are scaled down. I would have liked something more than, larger, space triangles, but eh. Its what we get.

It's fine and dandy until you realize their expansions are taking up space you want for your ships. And this could go on for several waves, in which here in Armada they already come at a glacial pace.

I do not want an entire year of two Yuzaan-Vong ship offerings (or Clone Wars) and nothing for the factions of my choice, Rebellion and Empire.

Maybe, maybe not. Armada isn't (as we can see clearly at this point) X-Wing. For good and bad. It'll never get releases as fast (downside), but...upside? It doesn't need them as badly - if X-Wing had an iffy 1.0, and half a decade later a 2.0 comes out...Armada had already learned a lot from X-Wing and basically launched at 1.75 out the gate. Doesn't have the same problems, doesn't have the same demands.

Also, conceptually if the Vong DO appear (and again - I'm arguing devil's advocate, here), it would be because they bring something entirely new to the table. Specifically - entirely new ships that don't interact problematically with the upgrades we already have...and bring new upgrades to the table, which don't interact problematically with the ships we already have. IE., it shouldn't delay anything to add them, as they stand alone so cleanly.

Something like the Clone Wars or Sequel era...doesn't get that option. THOSE ships will have upgrades and commanders that have to fit with the existing fleets, have to be balanced with the 7 waves of material already out there. THOSE things will be a challenge to get into the system. The Vong? Not at all, given how standalone they would be.

(And to reiterate - NOT A FAN OF THE BACKGROUND! - however, even *I* can see how...from a pure game perspective...they could deliver a lot of value)

I'll do you one better, let FFG add the Hapes Consortium. One Wave of 2 ships and 2 squadrons, and we're already back to the original factions.

I would love to see a Rogue squadron movie...it's what I thought we were getting when the announced rogue one.

I thought Rogue Squadron would be the next series they’d put Filoni on... I was wrong.

That’s my bad for thinking along the lines of what most of the fans would want vs what Disney prefers to push. Oh well, enjoy the New Era stuff, kids
