Clones AT-RT

By Matt3412, in Star Wars: Legion

So will the clones get there own version of the AT-RT or will they somehow release something that converts if for them into their army.

I just own three already and really want to get into clones as well and feel like im just gonna end up buying a few more.

Or what other support vehicles would the clones have besides speeders... same problem.

the Clones will get their own if only to change the pilot.

well i cant wait to buy more lol.... ?

I hope they get their own type of support units. It’d be lame if they get their own versions of already existing units in the game.

A clones at-rt expansion could be fun. Maybe they can throw in a new weapon option that rebels also can use

It’ll probably be just a slightly tweaked version. Maybe with an additional rule, different basic ranged weapon(1 black perhaps) and some new upgrades. Possibly some Republic only upgrades. It could still use all the current weapons because they only say at-rt only, not rebel only.

Good point. They could theoretically also use it to introduce new AT-RT only weapons... except FFG has said they will not be forcing you to buy models from other factions for upgrades.

Per wiki, they were also sometimes equipped with mortar launchers.

I can’t see them being able to keep that promise. Unless they slap “X faction only” on anything new. And I can’t see that going over well.

Alternately, keep releasing stuff for the current factions. So there might be a lul while the new factions "catch up."

Yeah I think there are some creative ways around upgrades for common vehicles between factions while not breaking the promise about not forcing you to buy other faction stuff.

One: label anything new as “this faction only”

Two: release an upgraded version of the original faction vehicle with the new upgrades and multiple cards

Three: release a new unit that is substantially different but has the cards. Like maybe a rebel commander that rides an ATRT or that has some relation to ATRTs or just comes with a pile of upgrade cards.

Four: Release some kind of factional “supplies” kit that includes new upgrade cards relevant for older factional units.

Im afraid the first solution is the simplest and what they will likely do to avoid criticism even though it’s not likely to be the most satisfying. It’s also going to be hard with so many factions to limit everyone to the same two grenade types for example. But who knows?

I think the simplest way for a clone at-st to be different would be to up it's armor save. With an appropriate point increase of course. The clones would be waring armor where the rebels are not. I could see that giving an increased save on an open topped vehicle.

Also, from what I remember from the cartoon, the clones used different speeder bikes than the empire. They could easily have different stats, and or upgrade options.

I suppose it could have both Defense and Offensive surges. I couldn't see them upping it to a Red die though.

The game really needs a black defense die...

“Not forcing you to buy other factions for upgrades” and “actively discouraging the purchase of other factions for upgrades” are quite different things.

I would like to see either 3 or 4, but I agree with you that it will probably be 1

They could do BARC speeders.

I mean I know that the clones had all this stuff... like I know the AT-RT was obviously clone tech before rebs tech. I just kinda wish that they make different support units than just reinforcing the existing stuff with heavier armor. This is Star Wars they have plenty to choose from. All I know is whatever it is I will be buying :) lol. I do agree that this is probably the most likely option as well as FFG is a company and will spend the least amount on development if they rehash the existing units. Sculpting/ play testing and whatnot

The way I would want them would be a pair of 2 at-rts for maybe 150 pts with a hardpoint slot for each at-rt and with 1 more health plus resilience

Normally I would agree, but in the case of the AT-RT, I think it would be a big fail from FFG to not include it in the Republic army. We have seen clone troopers using it multiple times in episode 3 and episodes of the Clone Wars. Not giving an AT-RT to the Clone army would be like giving the First Order (if they were in the game) the AT-ST while not giving it to the Empire. The Clone Army deserves it much more than the Rebellion. I don't even recall the Rebellion using it in a media.

As for other supports. I think they will get the BARC speeders (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/BARC_speeder), Infantry Support Platform (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Infantry_Support_Platform), maybe the Swoop Bike (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CK-6_swoop_bike) and maybe the AV-7 artillery (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/AV-7_Anti-vehicle_Artillery_Cannon). Or is it too big? Maybe a smaller model.

I would like to see the Clone's AT-RT have its legs sculpted in a different pose than the Rebel one. Such that if you bought two Rebel ones and two Clone ones, you could miss match the legs in a way that would give you four differently (but reasonably) posed vehicles.

i think if the do an AV-7 it would be a Heavy, along with the AT-OT. I actually think that the ISC would be a heavy as well given the Airspeeder is a heavy and they are both similar size.

Indeed. I'm pretty sure FFG just used it because they had to give the Rebels something of the same weight class as 2 speeder bikes, without it just being another kind of speeder.

Heck, even the Z-6 is just some surplus Clone Wars weaponry. Its only every seen being used by Clone troopers.

That's also what I suspect for the AV-7, that's why I said that it might be too big for a support unit. It's a heavy artillery after all.

As for the ISC, I'm pretty sure it would be a Support unit since its role is defined as Infantry Support (that's even in the name). It also doesn't have heavy weaponry. Probably a huge base support unit.

AV-7 and AT-OT might be too big though, they are about 50% longer than the AT-ST is tall so without a new base size. In that case the ISC would fill the heavy slot while swoops/speederbikes/ATRT would fill the support roles

Nothing says they can't have bigger stuff in this game. It'll be decent counter-weights to the AT-AT that will eventually show up.
