Vader + 2 Phantoms

By dsul413, in X-Wing Squad Lists

"Echo" — TIE Phantom 50
Juke 4
Ship Total: 54
"Whisper" — TIE Phantom 52
Juke 4
Ship Total: 56
Darth Vader — TIE Advanced 70
Supernatural Reflexes 12
Fire-Control System 3
Ship Total: 85

Hey everyone. I was trying to figure out what to fly with Whisper and Echo...turns out Vader fits pretty nicely. This list should be quite difficult to lock down, but may suffer agains swarms. I tried to keep it very straight forward.

Yeah, its on my fly list. It will be fun, thats for sure. So glad they made this change to phantoms so you can actually fly them and if they die you dont lose half your list.

Posted this on another thread:

Vader Double Phantoms

Darth Vader (70)
Fire-Control System (3)

"Whisper" (52)
Juke (4)
Fire-Control System (3)
Director Krennic (5)

"Echo" (50)
Trick Shot (1)
Seventh Sister (12)

Total : 200

I really like it. I’m experimenting with phantoms quiet a bit and pairing them with Vader is a solid option.

Like @ficklegreendice mentioned in another post krennic+fcs takes a bit to long to setup for 1 reroll. I’d rather take the focus and put adv. sensors on whisper.

I also don’t see the benefit of 7th sister besides the force charge and a r1 bubble saving you against linked actions. I think juke on Echo might be a better alternative.

Or try out Coll. Det. and trick shot.

Grand Quis if you can fit it is just beastly on Whisper.

This is not a Two Panthom list, but maybe you like it:

Darth Vader (70)
Fire-Control System (3)

Lieutenant Sai (47)
ST-321 (6)

"Whisper" (52)
Trick Shot (1)
Advanced Sensors (8)
Director Krennic (5)
Shield Upgrade (*)

Total: 198

This built may work. In my opinion, flying imperial aces requires a support ship or a few blockers else. This lambda seems to be half empty, but it can coordinate, take the same action which has been coordinate on itself ( whether the action is on lambda bar, so the most usual must be coordinate a focus action ), and gains a target lock for free... I think it’s pretty cool.

Krennic could be into the lambda, but I prefer a phantom with target lock shoting behind a rock.

Echo doesnt get an evade after hitting like Whisper, so Force powers give her a little more defense if being focused down or needing to barrel roll, etc. Also, Echo can end up anywhere, so your opponent has to be REALLY careful about any red maneuvers or linked actions. And not just high PS ships, because of that curved decloak, you can catch low PS all over the place as well. It's like insurance, you decloak to an area you dont want a ship to kturn or talon, and if they do, toss em on a rock, or jam them to let Whisper/Vader wreck them. The way Echo can fight around rocks, and shutting down your opponents linked actions and red moves is powerful.

I don't mind the list, I think it's solid. I think there's room for a different ship besides Vader.

If you throw Grand Inquisitor with the same loadout into Vader's spot, you free up a lot of points.

  • Grand Inquisitor (58) [73]
    • Supernatural Reflexes (12)
    • Fire-Control Systems (3)
  • Whisper (52) [62]
    • Juke (4)
    • Agent Kallus (6)
  • Echo (50) [64]
    • Juke (4)
    • Perceptive Copilot (10)

I personally think that Supernatural Reflexes, while useful on Vader, really shines on the Grand Inquisitor. He'll suffer a bit from not simply oozing Force tokens, but he can do either move without damaging himself. He could link into a Focus, gain a stress, clear the stress, then Evade, Lock for his FCS, or Barrel Roll. I assume you couldn't Boost/Barrel Roll > Focus since you'd be performing the Focus action again. He also frees up room for crew on the Phantoms, which is nice.
