Not exactly Armada, but still Star Wars

By ThatRobHuman, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

I needed to make something to keep from going crazy with KDYv2, so I decided to make my own lightsabre.

Awesome!! I just built one myself recently, is yours light-up? And do we get more shots of it?

Mine does not light up, no - it's only made out of PVC :P

I can get some more shots of it once it's paintjob is properly cured.

**** it FoaS, now I am staring at it trying to guess the diameter and PVC fittings you used to make it!

Inch, or inch and a half, but I'm not sure if it's from water or electrical PVC.

Looking good though.

Mostly 1-inch diameter schedule-40 plumbing PVC, though a few of the threaded fittings are electrical PVC, also I use a few 3/4 pieces with adapter fittings between them

In hindsight, I probably would've made the primary diameter 1-1/4" because apparently that diameter schedule-40 pipe can actually fit the 1" inside of it, so you can get some pretty interesting shapes that way.

I have three more, actually, that I have yet to prime and paint:

The fourth one in that shot is the already-metalized on in the first post.

Those look awesome! I haven't tried making my own sabers, but I own two from Saberforge; Luke's from RotJ, and Corran's speeder bike handlebar one. I really appreciate people who actually try and make their own. It makes it so much more personal.

It is mostly a matter of money as to why I don't have any of the "official" sabres, and there totally is a satisfaction of making one's own sabre :3

got my trim metals taken care of - all that's left is a clearcoat, some weathering, and another clear coat.

Weathering is done

Not entirely thrilled with the heat-effect on the emitter, but live and learn. last step is to wrap the handle and weather that down some.

Handled wrapped and done.

Now on to our regularly scheduled KDY development.

Really nice job !!!

Another one is on its way, pictures soon.
