Theory: Asmodee CEO Steps Down Because of Gambling Loot Boxes

EA has stated multiple times that gamers ❤️ loot boxes and loot boxes are fun.

Don't want to quote everything here because you are taking every sentence sideways and not even trying to have a discussion. But I will address this in particular. You KEEP bringing up EA, which is irrelevant.

A Keyforge deck doesn't have anything that you can take out, and use with something else. That's the point I'm trying to make. You buy a deck you are getting a total deck that can never be disassembled, broken up, or separated. Think about it -

Lets say you are gambling with a scratch off lotto ticket - you are HOPING for something in particular right? Something specific. You want to win money.

Lets say you are gambling in a casino - you want to win a prize or alot of chips. Something you can take home with you? Something you can spend?

My argument is that this scenario is totally different, in that there is no hope, or expectation when you buy a deck, other than knowing you are getting one full deck. There is no "Value" to be gained from it beyond the MSRP of 9.99, because you cannot sell any cards from it. It's pieces are worthless if you separate them - something that is absolutely NOT true in any gambling scenario I've ever seen.

So no, I didn't talk to EA about this because that doesn't even make sense.

Also Crabbok, why are you against FFG from just including the QR code or printing the contents on the box? If FFG did this, it would no longer be gambling. Customers could CHOOSE what they wanted to purchase or they could CHOOSE not to look and just get the first one off the shelf. How does including the contents HURT the customer?

I can tell you how it HURTS FFG's profits. If customers have full knowledge over whats included in the box, they can pick and choose which ones they want to buy. This means they will not HAVE to gamble for what they want. FFG obviously WANTS you to gamble for the contents because its a blind box. Read the article to understand why companies PUT products in blind boxes.

That article leaves out one very important fact: Due to some regulations, there is a way to purchase everything you want. Every display contains every figure from these blind box lines, so if you massively overpay, you can get them with no problem. Still cheaper than trying to get them entirely randomly. That is why digital lootboxes are one issue and blind boxes another one entirely if indeed at all.

You are asking me why I'm against something, that I never stated that I'm against.

Why do you hate clowns? See how that works? As EA, they are very Pro-Clown and Hawaii's governor actually wears purple boots, which EA knows very well about.

I have a clear logical chain. I looked at the legalisation coming o ut of digital l oot boxes and applied that to Unique Games.

And thus the difference between digital loot boxes with unknown content and not necessarily usable content, and those complete and immediately playable but also in exact content unknown decks shows why your conclusion is simply wrong.

Not to mention that lootboxes ala digital games can modify the rate at which and the rarity or the value of what you get when you pay more easily than say those blind boxes. And for the blind boxes in bags you can further increase your odds on getting what you want by feeling the contents of the bag and getting an idea of the shape inside of it.

Well, you can't always do that with every packaging, but for some yes. The point stands that the unregulated mess that are digital lootboxes are not the same as blind purchases.

Wasn't disagreeing with you, just making the point that lootboxes are worse than blind bags as at least blind bags you have a rough idea of what you are going to get.

Don’t get baited into a resolved argument if you can help it;

Lootboxes aren’t gambling, by definition.

Glad I’m not the only one that noticed the tendancy of Rexler to put a confused emoji to every message that goes against Lace.

you guys know lace is trolling you.

according to his rules of loot box, every single pack of magic or a pack of baseball cards ever opened in the history of such things is a loot box. **** according to him if you ever opened a cereal box with a toy in it, and it did not tell you what toy was in it, you got a loot box.

I really hope hes trolling. if not, lace I hope you find something more in your life that you actually find joy in.

I am curious. Is this meant to inform people if they did not already know, or is it just intended to state that you realize that they already know this?
