What will be the first "Huge" based expansion

By XiliX, in Star Wars: Legion

Since I'm still in the process of painting my mini's, I've been reading through the rule book. On page 16 under the topic "BASE" it says, "Ground vehicle minis are affixed to a medium, large or huge notched bases". The same is said for "Repulsor" vehicles. So what are the guesses as to what "huge" based vehicles will be released?

XiliX

The SC2-M repulsor tanks from Imperial Assault.

The Airspeeder and AT-ST are on the huge base. The bikes are on the medium and the AT-RT is on the large

that or the occupier tank from Rogue One, either way I would be fine.

I'm still looking for the Tatooine air skiff for my Merc/Scum faction

The AT-AT ?

/facepalm

The SC2-M is hideous... I'd much rather have the Battlefront hovertank it was derived from...

I bet the Droid tanks from Clone Wars would be on a huge base?

Same maybe for the 4-legged walking tank things the Republic used.

The Republic didn't have a four legged walker as far as I know. They had a two (AT-RT), a three (AT-PT), and a six (AT-TE). Of those three walkers, only the AT-RT is small enough in scale as far as I know to fit on one of the existing base sizes.

Yeah I was thinking of the AT-TE lol

I really am hoping for more tanks in this game. Kinda sick of only troop unit releases. Wouldn’t mind more air units too.

It really is, but even the Battlefront tank isn't that great IMO. Rather have the Occupier, or the Rebels-redesign of the Troop Transport, or the AT-DT, or some landspeeder "technicals" for the Rebs.

I bet that will more likely end up as a Republic release.

Eh, the AT-PT is smaller than the AT-ST and could show up as an Imperial release. The AT-AP (three legged one) on the other hand is only a couple feet taller than the AT-ST so I could see it working, heck the AT-DP walker from Rebels is actually a little bit taller than the AT-AP and I suspect we will see that based off how it showed up in IA. The Republic has a number of walkers within the right height, like the AT-TE but they are so long that unless FFG makes another type of base they likely won't show up outside of command cards. Still, they do have stuff they could pull from Legends like the AT-XT which was a two legged walker that the Clone used.

Ah, I misread the AT-APs height as the length. (Also mistyped the AT-AP as AT-PT >_< *grumbles about Star Wars walker naming systems*).

For real though, I’m sure they have a system, but I would love some nicknames! Like “Chicken-Walker” or “Battle-Tank”

You are not alone, but the next 5 months or more have been announced and it is all infantry.

Be nice to get some vehicles as infantry just takes a lot longer to paint.

There was a proto-ATAT in the pre Disney comics in the clone wars.

Just a bit more boxy really.

Hilarious.

All of you are wrong. Next HUGE expansion is going to be the addition of the Clone Wars. Can't get any bigger than adding two new factions.

Better would be:

Empire: 2-M Saber Tank

Maybe with aweapon options for the turret and side guns -> IFT-T
latest?cb=20111015192301

And for the Republic: The IFT-X/TX-130
latest?cb=20060319125541

I don't see how it would be anything or than the AT-AT.

Unless Huge Base is something else and AT-AT goes up to a larger size of Epic Base or something.

Huge is a base size already in the game, it's the "official term" for the base used by the AT-ST and T-47. AT-AT is a bit problematic in both size (in scale) and power for Legion. For many reasons, I doubt the AT-AT will be added, but I could be wrong.

How would a three-legged walker work, and more importantly, why ? In order for each leg to take a full step forward, you'd have to make three separate movements, and for each motion the thing is only balanced on two legs while the one leg is moving. Contrast with a four-legged vehicle, where you either move each leg independently, taking four movements but also meaning you're always keeping three feet on the ground at all times, or else moving two at a time where you're sometimes balanced on two, but moving everything in only two movements. Of course, the best (disregarding cost) is six, as you can then move everything in only two movements and keep three points-of-contact with the ground.

I mean, by the time you've whittled the legs down to three, you may as well just drop down further to two and just hope there are no ewoks around.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/AT-AP

It is self propelled artillery. It moves on two legs, but firing the main guns requires the third "support" leg to be deployed.

Also, "why" and "how" for science fiction stuff tends to be "someone in charge thought it looked cool" and "because of advanced technology." ?
