I always figured that the superstructure on the Star Wars ships housed stuff like the Captain's quarters and the officer's mess (or at least one of them). Considering an Imperial -class is something like a mile long, I think it makes sense to keep a set of amenities near the bridge crew, rather than having them waste time racking up FitBit steps just heading to the refresher.
