Couple of months? I watched several YouTube tutorials, downloaded the thing, files.... Felt like I was fighting a Windows 3 program. Couldn't even figure out how to save a fleet. Yeah, it's pretty frustrating to play the first several times. I haven't gotten much into it because about 60% of Armada for me is the plastic spaceships, but the more you play, the better you understand/remember the shortcuts and it gets a LOT faster.
Despite its lack of tactility, you can’t discount it’s ability to get a high calibre, international, tournament field together though.

I personally still rank the VWC below the WC.
My Majors would be WC, Euros, NA Championship, VWC.
Notable Top Tier Events but not "Majors" would be any Nationals event and Regional level events in select areas (parts of NA and Europe).
I'd go:
World Championships
Vassal World Cup
European Championship
North American Championship
While Vassal may be a different meta, the diversity of players from around the globe is what puts it above Euros in the list for me. Euros is definitely above NA Championship just based on size. Gen Con is usually limited to around 40 players.
So now I just need to find a way to travel out to Euros.....

1. Vassal world cup
2. Euros
3. Uk Nationals aka Euros pt 2
4. World Champs

Pretty sure motf and steel command do after action reports. Usually listing he top 4 of each event. Gencon, Euros and worlds were all covered.

I think I have a list of this somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.
I had a thought at one point to do something similar to ATP rankings for Armada. Using Vassal WC, Worlds, Euros, and NA as the majors, with nationals a tier below and then regionals below that. It was going to be waaayyy too much work though.

As long as people on the ground provide me with lists, I'll keep recording it for at least World Champs, Gen-Con, and Euros. This year was admittedly the first year though that I committed to doing it completely (I did it for Worlds and Euros in 2017). With several nationals approaching I'd actually be very interested in people providing the lists from those tourneys if possible.
I think the Armada community is perhaps a bit young for a ranking. Most that do go to Euros don't go to World, cost too high if you include travel+stay, and you can't always spit a week vacation just for that, especially if you have young kids. It should be worst for players in a country tat has a low player -density, as with play comes knowledge, and paying a lot of money just to get a bunch of 0-10 is discouraging.
I say when the game hits it 10 birthday, that will come handy, so prepare!?
I really know nothing about this, but it would be possible to do an ELO system right?
