Second Edition Dice manufacturing defects

By Cloaker, in X-Wing

Noticed that the dice have some errant divots in them. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a 12 die set of the sparkle marbles that I'm using but my buddy and I just noticed this today. This along with the various other manufacturing defects; (Partisan X-wing s-foils, Saw's Renegades card misprints, TIE fighters from 2.0 Core set setting oddly on pegs, Medium bases not holding ID tokens well in slot etc.) lends credence to the suspicion they rushed some of this out a bit.

Wave 14 2.0 content definitely looked very rushed, but those dice, yikes. I'd see if I could get replacements for those from customer service if I were you.

Why would the dice be produced any more quickly?? ?

If anything the dice with the divots are more balanced because now the blank faces don’t have more material than the faces with icons.

Plus, I’ve seen first edition dice with divots like that. I wouldn’t sweat it too much.

Same. I have a fair number of dice which looked like that.

REBEL BIAS!!!!

Clearly you are rolling them too hard. You’re denting them.

Thank you for pointing out that this piece of the puzzle that literally hasn’t changed can’t possibly have been rushed.

Really tired of folks looking for ANY reason to trash talk the game.

Do they roll better?

I haven't been able to tell yet. Going to try the epsom salt test though for balance. Will post results.

Why did the production speed of dice change from 1.0 to 2.0 when they use the same dice?

Sketchy quality on cheaply produced products.

Film at 11.

I watched that last night! They concluded a company trying to shave costs to make more profit sometimes suffers a lower quality product. I was shocked...flabbergasted, dumb stricken, stupified...thunderstruck even!

A bunch of my dice from 1.0 and TFA cores have divots in the corners. I don’t think this is as bad as those. They actually favor the nicked sides and I don’t use them

Narrator: It didn’t.

I think you made a leap in logic there. My commute is each day the same. I still rushing sometimes quite heavily. ?

In this case the dice are the same. But the amount of expected sales on core sets is basically at least 50% of all core sets sold in the last 6 years. All within one production cycle. And each and every one of those comes with a set of dice. Does this sound like a normal production run for you?

A better argument would be that this kind of mistakes have been made in the past already plenty of times, which suggested that QA NEVER was good with FFG. But that ... would be a rather well known fact anyway. Everyone knows that FFG is a cheapskate when it comes to QA, logistics and editing, while doing pretty good product development.

I'm not trash talking. I am making assumptions, however, that are based on fact. Important to distinguish between the two.

Well remember the old saying about when you assume anything" you make an a** u me"
