When Force and Destiny beginner game arrived I complained on these boards FFG had missed the opportunity to address the prequel era. Figuring the new movies would capture everyone's attention, I moaned that the prequels never would be sourced, Now I see Rise of the Separatists is coming When? When? When? Hurry please!
happy to be wrong
Current theory is it will be released around the same time as the new Clone Wars season 7 release. Because cross-marketing.
Seeing as how TCW Season 7 has a tentative release date of "late 2019" that would give FFG enough time to get Rise of the Separatists (side note: it wouldn't surprise if part of why that name was chosen for the book was to use the RotS anagram of Episode III) finalized, back from the printers (where the main lag in getting books out seems to have been for the past few releases), and onto shelves to coincide with that.
Then again, part of me thinks it's just a happy accident that we're getting a sourcebook based around the advent of the Clone Wars at the same time it was announced the seventh/final season of TCW is in the works.

ug, in that case I hope the theory is wrong. Would much rather have this for Christmas.

Yeah, given it was just announced and the product is listed as "In Development," I don't think we'll be seeing the book this year. Best case scenario is probably the later part of Q12019, but most likely Q22019.

Oh well... I need to finish my to-darn-long New Republic campaign anyway...
Unlikely it'll be here this year. But i'd prefer not to wait forever for it like with the mystic release. Hopefully it comes out relatively soon.

The mystic book wait was a lot shorter than the engineer book release wait was though.

This does not make me feel better.
The shipping snafu that caused the AoR sourcebooks to be delayed has most likely either been resolved or worked around, so it's very unlikely that the RotS splat is going to suffer nearly as much of a delay as those books did.
Not saying it's impossible, but I'd be very surprised if the book wasn't ready for a GenCon 2019 release at the very latest, and is likely to be in our hands a lot sooner than then.
Still nobody is talking about Career Clone Trooper. Race Clone and Career Jedi...
Much more important..

Based on existing statistical data, Absol's preliminary prediction is February 2019.
Dude I've already got the Somali Pirates and Bulgarian Mercs hired I'm going to make sure I have the only copy til at least August 2019...
Jedi career is a strange choice to me. Having universal specs? Sure. But its own career?

Not really.
I think it's been said in the F&D corebook that the specializations there are geared less for the bona-fide Jedi (aka folks that have been trained in the Jedi ways and the Force since near-infancy) and more for people that have either discovered their innate talent in the Force or come across bits of lore. Even the Lightsaber Form specs aren't "Jedi" per se and instead are folks that have studied/learned elements of those Forms and made them into a coherent fighting style.
Yes, Sam Stewart has said on the O66 podcast that you can use F&D careers to replicate Jedi PCs in settings where the Jedi Order is alive and thriving, but it always carried the unspoken undertone of "but careers were never meant to allow PCs to truly be Jedi." And I guess now we know why that undertone was there, given the announcement of this book. And if there's only three specs in RotS, then that leaves FFG room to publish three more specs for the Jedi career in a later supplement, perhaps one covering the later half of the Clone Wars up through Episode 3 (that is if I remember correctly, and that this upcoming book only covers the early part of the war).
On a marketing side, it's new crunch that they can use to push sales of the book, saying words to the effect of "Hey folks, do you want to play a Jedi like Obi-Wan or Anakin or Ahsoka or Plo Koon in your games? Well, with this new Jedi career, now you can!" Not unlike what they're doing with the Clone Trooper career (be curious to see if any of that career's specs have talents from Dawn of Rebellion's Retired Clone Trooper universal spec). It's been long established and proven that mechanical crunch really helps sell supplements, especially to players who very often like to have various "new toys" to play with and plug into their character.
Its also kinda self defeating, because people are going to expect the moon and the stars from these careers and will not be happy if they get the infiltrator equivalent of either career.
Seeing how the Jedi once were 'at the height of their power' and more some such, I only hope these 'true Jedi' careers and specialization paths and what not don't sprinkle too much Force Rating talents in there. I always liked how you really had to juggle two or three careers from FaD and had to develop your character through quite some experience into some one that could reasonably reliably use the Force.
I'd like to see them having some social, and some action economy stuff, some leadership, that together with a weapon style path would make great synergy.
Maybe Improved The Force is My Ally, changing the once per session limit to once per encounter.
Really curious to see how they'll make it work without making them unbalanced.

I suspect that they'll each get the somewhat standard single Force Rating talent, unless the spec has a much more mystical bent (like Sage, Hermit, or Seer) in which case it'd swap out the Dedication for a second Force Rating.
Part of me does wonder if folks are taking the phrase "height of their power" to mean more than it should with regards to the prequel-era Jedi, and assuming that it means powerful Force users when it could very well just mean that the Jedi Order was at the peak of its social and political influence in the Republic rather than the Jedi themselves all being Force-wielding demigods.
Anakin: "Nobody can kill a Jedi."
Qui-Gon Jinn: "I wish that were true."
(Or something like that, not an exact quote probably.) @Donovan Morningfire , so true. I'm not waiting to see a Jedi career specifically, if that means there are three Force Rating talents (or more) added to the talent tree just because somebody else had a luminous idea about "height of power". The (intended) quote I gave illustrates your point about Force-wielding demigods perfectly, in my opinion. We don't need such. In that perspective, I even wonder why we would need a specific Jedi career path at all, looking at all the options we have now, through FaD and its sourcebooks.
In that same train of thought, why a Clone Trooper career? To me, logically, a Clone Trooper would be a Human variant, like the Mandalorians or Corellians. Basic troopers would be specific Clone Trooper species minions not unlike Stormtroopers, exceptional examples like the ARCs could go for Soldier-Commando careers , or Colonist-Doctor careers for medical personnel, for example.
(For that last suggestion): or Soldier-Medic.

Also so very true, that one.
