What's the better choice for a Gunboat. I can see positives and negatives for both mods. I'm interested to hear what people think about this.
Thanks!

LRS for Nus, Chips for deadeye Rhos.
Depends on the rest of the build
Your basic Harpoon Nu? LRS. Pretty much any cannon build? LRS again.
As Mattman points out though, Deadeye munitions builds can get the benefit from chips, as can any PtL munitions variant. I've run PtL Harpoon Rhos with Chips and they hit like a truck.
@FTS Gecko gets it right. Nus aren't realistically able to get TLs in combat. Once a ship has tricks to get target locks either off SLAM with PTL or just not bother with TLs with Deadeye, then the need for LRS to get TLs from long range is a lot smaller.
However, I think I'd strongly consider cannon-Boats over missile-boats these days. There's lots of Jam out there, and Jam can really mess up anyone who plans on using TLs to fire munitions.
2.0 is better for gunboats.
I think LRS is the go on your missile boats these days, even on the Rhos (who can take Crack Shot instead of Deadeye). Rolling into combat with lock and focus makes it harder for the Reapers to stop you, as they need the full ISB Slicer double-tap just to stop one of the missiles. Crack Shot also means there's an outside chance that a Rho who gets double-jammed will still accomplish something.
However, I'd probably go with @theBitterFig and suggest switching to cannons. A cannon boat with Linked Battery and LRS still gets close enough to full mods after being Jammed, and still gets the Linked Battery reroll even after being hit by an ISB Slicer. You also don't need to worry (as much) about somehow keeping those super-quick Reapers at range 2.

Crack Rhos make a certain amount of sense these days. Specifically anti-TL tech (Countermeasures, Black One) is probably a lot less common these days, and focus tokens help against having TLs jammed (in 1e at least... 2e Jam lets the person who set the Jam pick which token goes first). Deadeye Rhos were picked for flexibility over the cheaper Nus, but Jam hurts them at least as much if not more than LRS Nus.
all good advice and input! Much appreciated.
Looks like I'll hang on to my LRS on my Nu to keep that option for the double mod open.
Thanks again!
Can I reliably get a target lock and fire my torpedoes at my PS level?

- If YES then Guidance Chips
- If NO then Long Range Scanners
Yep.
