Unmatched Ferocity and Linked weapon quality rules

By StriderZessei, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Do the timing of Unmatched Ferocity and Linked overlap?

For instance, can I choose to use UF after the second hit, and can I proc Linked on each bonus attack?

oooo...maybe?

Yes , If you were able to produce the advantage required.

And if you wanted to keep going even further you could use Improved Precision Strike to select the critical injury "Overpowered" which allows you to hit again, and repeat, and repeat...

So...you could hit 9 times in one turn? This would require you to be using a melee weapon though not a lightsaber one though right?

9? Theoretically yes, and even more. As long as you keep criting you can keep chaining Overpowered, and if you want even more then do the "Saber Swarm" manouver first to gain extra linked rating equal to your force rating.

One rank of Durable is very handy. As you may reduce a crit by 10, but don't have to, and it applies after someone has rolled or chosen their result, it means you can never by hit a second time by Overpowered!

Wether you can use Durable after Precision Strike or whether you have to use it before is discussed in this thread.

Obviously you can read it yourself, but the final consensus seems to be that all talents that raise or lower the crit like Durable, Vicious, Supreme Armor Master, etc are applied to the roll and the resulting crit calculated. AFTER all that has been applied, if the attacker doesn't like the crit that has been calculated, he THEN applies Improved Precision Strike to chouse a crit of average or lower. So Durable won't save you.

But Precision Strike (Improved) is limited to once per round. I do not see how this "chain attack" can work in this case (?)

Well first you use Lightsaber in one hand melee weapon in the other or open fist if you are a Martial Artist/IronFist spec so you can use both Improved and Supreme to get Overpowered Crits which depending on the ruling each overpowered crit would be a new attack chain which means you would reset the difficulty back down when you trigger the overpowered crits....

I see it, and I see the suggested Dev ruling. Not sure I agree, as Attacker gets crit, Defender changes, Attacker changes again as out of step with the simplicity of the rest of the game. I'd probably in the end though base my call on which talent is being abused more!

Improved precision strike is once per round

My mistake! (I haven't gotten the warrior book yet, and the description I'd read neglected that detail.) And I didnt realize it had come out in "Martial Artist", as my group uses the Force Sensitive trees almost exclusively. Sorry for my ignorant statement!

Thanks for the info!

Also improved precision strike doesn't work with lightsaber attacks, and supreme precision strikes only works with unarmed attacks.

Oooo... more good info... thanks! I'm learning a lot! ?

So what I learned from reddit:

You can trigger Linked before using UF (provided you get the 2 required adv for Linked), and if your subsequent attack generates sufficient advantage, you can activate Linked again before suffering the strain and conflict to activate UF again.

Basically you get to say, "@#$% your tank,

@#$% your minion group in the tank,

@#$% your commander behind the minions, and you know what?

#@$% the ground beneath you too."

Then you pass out from all the strain and wake up with yellow eyes.

So maybe a green nikto warrior:shii-cho knight probably starting with a 4 in agility and a 3 in willpower and 3 in brawn (1 in presence), ataru striker with a double bladed saber putting both dedications into agility, and a spec with 2 force ratings (sage, seer, or hermit) with 2 force ratings to up your linked to 4... you get a build somewhere between Darth maul (double bladed lightsaber and yellow eyes) yoda (green and ataru & your choice of sage/seer/hermit) and mace windu (unmatched ferocity), "call me the eraser, you can' (because he erases everyone who goes up against him.
