The Executor opens up for a number of other ships..

By Baudolino, in Star Wars: Armada

Now we can also get:

Annihilator SSD

Bellator SSD (my favourite star wars ship)

Allegiance SD

Secutor SD

of course there are many other smaller ships and also ships from the clone wars and the new trilogy.

I’m really excited about the prospect of having the Bellator and Secutor in the game...

I would love to see a Vengeance Class SSD

@Baudolino

Allegience and Secutor should still be large size I think, however the others definitely a nice idea, however what is the annihilator SSD? I never heard of it.

@jarmus mrawn

yes please

I'm a huge fan of the Bellator. However, it does seem kind of meh that the rebels don't have but one that could qualify for huge ship status whereas the empire has many. I know it's thematic, but it makes me hesitate to want many more huge ships.

I really like that the Executor Super Star Destroyer has gotten people excited about Armada again, but I think that at some point we need to start being realistic about what ships will be added in future waves. The Bellator is a great example of this. It is a cool looking ship, I'll give you that, but it will never be added to Armada by FFG. It is an obscure Legends ship and does not have the mass appeal necessary to market to non-Armada players. This is where the Executor SSD succeeds, as I know a few people that do not play Armada, but plan on buying it to put on their shelf at home or desk at work. This is similarly true for the Allegiance-class Star Destroyer (especially true here as it is obscure and looks far too similar to an Imperial-class Star Destroyer). At least the Secutor-class Star Destroyer is a canon book (Tarkin), which gives it some support to being in a future wave. If we want to be serious in considering future ships , especially in the OT/GCW era, we need to look at what has been on screen first (movies, tv, video games), as every ship so far has on one of these three platforms (tracking the Raider, but it has been in Battlefront II). And as much as I do not want Clone Wars or Sequel Trilogy ships mixed in with our current game of Armada, FFG will add them long before any of these ships get serious consideration.

Edit: Forgot to say that books will be second if they move away from the other three platforms (Starhawk)

Rebels have a few options in legends, but currently in "canon" i think there's just the Raddus and the Lukrehulk-Class. Personally i'm fine with only Imperials having huge ships for a few waves as long as us rebels get 3-4 ships to counterbalance the SSD.

Yet, don’t we have an Alt Art card depicting the Bellator?

I believe you are talking about the ship on the Expanded Hanger Bay Alt Art card, which is the Assertor-class Dreadnought (which looks similar to the Bellator). The picture is from the Age of Rebellion: Lead by Example book. I stand by my previous statement though. If this ship is eventually introduced into Armada, I'm more than happy to eat some humble pie and admit that I was wrong.

I hobestky didn’t know what it was - I’m not good with depictions - I just heard Bellator thrown around a lot about it.

Assuming the retail price would remain roughly the same for any 'huge' ship, I can't imagine FFG releasing more than one per faction.

Until the Executor-class was announced it seemed at least to me as the easiest way to get a dreadnought on the table. At 7200 meters it's 4.5 ISDs long which would be about 3ft long, and sliding scale it down to 1.5ft to 2ft long. I think the downsizing would not be as noticeable as the Executor-class as the Bellator lacks the cityscape design.

Allegiance SD

Secutor SD

Easy additions at least when it comes to size, both ships would only be about an inch longer than the Imperial-class Star Destroyer.

The Secutor also has the advantage of being Canonized by the Tarkin novel.

No worries. They look pretty similar. But I think it does bring up an interesting point about this discussion though. I consider myself to be a pretty big SW fan, but still had to look three of the four ships from the OP, only knowing the Secutor because there is a thread about it in the Painting and Modification section. Now compare this to the Acclamator-class Cruiser or the Corellian Gunship from Empire at War , that are (likely) more recognizable and ships that people have utilized before in a SW game.

Cool thing is that the Bellator is now canon.

Also - all the ships i mentioned have been added to the Holocron continuity database.

whilw i agree with regard to how well known these assets are. Keep in mind that these ships are frequently used in the modding community (pc games) and are likely more known to star wars fans, that also play computer games, than one might expect.

Now that the Executor is in, it will be easier to include the others. Problem is, as someone already mentioned, that the rebeles don`t have as many assets as the empire.

I`m gonna love putting the Executor on the gaming mat and shock the **** out of my buddy, who doesn`t know the executor is coming. Getting the other ships i mentioned in as well, especially the Bellator and Secutor, would be amazing.

points-wise, it will be easier to get thesecutor and even the Bellator in to 400-500 point games.

Eclipse class.

Bellator depicted in "Empire at war: Forces of corruption"

screenshot002.png

Picture is from "Empire at war: Forces of corruption mod "Thrawns Revenge""

Bellator is an awesome evolution of the Star Destroyer and at 7200m, its size is perfect for a smaller HUGE vessel. I envision this at around 1800-220 points for a non-prototype variant, depending on abilities and stats.

Tell me this isn`t awesome:)

Ship is also depicted in the following games:

Sins of a solar empire: Rebellion mod Thrawns ascendency

Stellaris mod "Empire ships"*

Executor is going to be awesome, AND the Bellator needs to get in-game as well - as soon as possible...

*Star wars and Star Trek modders in stellaris have combined forces on the upcoming mod "Fallen Republic" for Stellaris. The modders are great and the latest version of Stellaris is also great. This is looking to be a very good mod and it wil also showcase an insane amount of Star Wars ships from a number of species. If you`re a star wars and armada fan- you`ll want to check it out.

Where, when?

I think we would see a Resurgence before we would see the Bellator.

I second this, stellaris is amazing and this mod looks like its going to be awesome. Think of it as civ in space. But better.

Honestly, I think Rebels are getting set up for an MC-80 retrofit and a new medium base ship to go along with the the SSD Wave.

Super keen on the Supremacy.

Wide front arc! (very wide)
