Interesting ideas for dangerous Imperial plots?

It might be quicker if they were docked to the side - you probably don't want to fire up those enormous 130m diameter engines with a friendly station right behind you. And the chance that the place you want to go to is directly away from the station is equal to the chance of it being anywhere else.

That's a good point. My original thinking for pointing it out was also the inconvenience of docking in that direction. I assume ships can reverse in Star Wars, but it'd be slow I reckon, like travelling on manoeuvring thrusters only. The counter argument could be the use of tugs, or even large tractor beams. But your point is very apt.

Hopefully they would go backwards real slow. Imagine if one of those came at the station in reverse, with the velocity of a speeding bullet! ?

Another reason they don't head in - and it's tough to see in that schematic...a bunch of black lines on white - is that there's a "roll bar" type structure across the outer top/bottom cutouts. Easier to see here.

Just a rough outline as I tend to do, and make details on the fly, but I'm developing Project Revenant in which the Empire has been requisitioning mining supplies and equipment, as well as moving large numbers of Imperial prisoners to an undisclosed location. The group would somehow discover this and begin investigating.

This leads them to a planet deep in Wild Space that is rich in Kyber crystals that the Imperial Survey Corp discovered The Empire is essentially strip mining the planet while building the second Death Star. And, you have Rogue Two. Still working out some details but that's the general run down.

You can reveal intel that a third party (corporate sector, Hutts, a hidden empire in the wild space) took the plans stolen by the rebellion and they are building their own Death Star. Perhaps a smaller version, but still deadly (you don't need to destroy a planet. It's enough to erase a hemisphere or a capital ship)

So basicly you mean... the Darksaber? :D

I would link that gif with Homer, turning in to Mr. Burns someone elses project with adding little wings, but I can't find. You have to imagine it.

Perhaps they discover the detailed plans for subjugating and then eliminating an alien species while extracting the resources from their homeworld. They can sell this info, try to go to the senate, go to the species in question, etc. The species you choose will determine to some extent the character of the whole thing. If they were out to wipe Devaronians it might be different than say something small and cute. The mere idea of the Empire taking out Zeltron gives me a warm and fuzzy.

Yeah, I can see you getting behind the idea of a regimented, stifling, homogeneous, anti-alien government wiping out a society primarily interested in pleasure. ?

But this way their guns all point out too which adds to the firepower of the base if needed.

The Empire decides to round up all the Ewoks as the Emperor has had a premonition about the assault by the Rebellion on Sanctuary Moon.... therefore ensuring the successful building of the second Death Star :D

And later we find out that Thrawn had submitted a proposal to use the Ewoks as Imperial Commandos, but that nobody listened. He also advised them to shoot all escape pods regardless of life signs, to rebuild the Death Star Reactor because he felt it had a fatal flaw, and to not let Bothans anywhere near Imperial facilities.

Think about this one though. Plans to the Death Star are lost/destroyed as far as rebel hands go. Luke never leaves the farm. Alderaan survives. Obi-wan remains a hermit.

At some point you can see the Empire making a real example out of an inhabited planet. That would likely finally rouse Obi-Wan and probably Yoda. Or maybe Bail sends for Obi-Wan earlier. Either way, a very different starting point and one I think would be interesting.

Also, potentially Han Solo meets a grim end due to not linking up with the rebels.

My players will soon be cracking into some juicy Imperial intel archives and I want to plant a future adventure hook in there. Something alarming, but with the potential to try to do something about it if the information can be acted on quickly enough. I'd like to steer clear of direct movie ripoffs, so not any Death Star plans or the like, but either a plan or a weapon that was to be kept secret that can spur the characters into action.

Something like a new starship design, or an impending invasion somewhere in the galaxy, or a looming internal divide among the Moffs, etc...

Got any awesome ideas?

The Empire has a penchant for eradicating cities or planets out of spite, or sometimes with a purpose. Anoat (gassed), Caamas (incendiary 'accident'), etc... Caamas had the Caamas Document, which proved an Imperial cause rather than an accident or Rebel cause, as it was claimed. So, you could have such proof, OR uncover plans for such a future genocide with a cool secret code name (Operation Dearborn). Their job can be to escape with the information to either prove, or prevent, the calamity.

I've read that.

I had my group stumble upon the designs for the soon-to-be-revealed Eclipse-class dreadnought. It ended up being very fun -- the squad had a reason to try to hold out against the Empire for as long as possible, that tied into the base's role as an intel relay station. They had to balance the efforts to evacuate their personnel with the temptation to buy as much time as they could to decrypt the files. It was a nice culmination to the arc that sets up future adventures when they have to follow the trail of the new weapon.
