Question about Serpents of Yig and The Codex of Ages

By PanchoVilla, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

If the Serpents of Yig appear and seal the Elder Sign token, can I play The Codex of Ages to move the Elder Sign from the Serpents onto the Codex?

The text on the Serpents of Yig card reads "Search the chaos bag for the (Elder Sign) chaos token and seal it on Serpents of Yig." The Codex of Ages card on the other hand reads "Father Mateo deck only. Seal (Elder Sign)". The Codex does not specify that you need to get the token from the chaos bag before sealing it (unlike the Serpents), which leads me to believe you would simply seal the Elder Sign token onto The Codex as soon as the card is played, regardless of where it is on the field.

I don't believe that works, you only seal out of the Chaos bag. Below is the rules for sealing. It appears Codex of Ages can't enter play if the Serpents of Yig are in play.

As an additional cost for a card with the seal key word to enter play,
its controller must search the chaos bag for the specified chaos
token and place it on top of the card, thereby sealing it. If there is a
choice of which token to seal, the card’s controller chooses. If the
specified token is not in the chaos bag, the card cannot enter play.
A sealed chaos token is not considered to be in the chaos bag, and
therefore cannot be revealed from the chaos bag as part of a skill
test or ability

I agree with Jobu, but it was a nice thought.

The Seal keyword means you have to take the token from the bag and seal it on the card as a cost to play that card. If the token does not exist in the bag, then you cannot play the card. The Serpents are exempt from this because they don't use the Seal keyword, just an effect of it entering play. So if the Elder Sign is sealed elsewhere, then the Serpents enter play but don't seal anything. Conversely, if the Elder Sign is sealed already, you cannot play the Codex.
